Anne Marie Roche wants to find happiness again.

On Valentine's Day, Anne Marie and several other widows get together to celebrate...what? Hope, possibility, the future. They each begin a list of 20 wishes. Anne Marie's list starts with "Find one good thing about life". It includes learning to knit, doing good for someone else, falling in love again.

She begins to act on her wishes, and when she volunteers at a local school, an eight-year-old girl named Ellen enters her life. It's a relationship that becomes far more involving than Anne Marie intended. It also becomes far more important than she ever imagined.

Jane says: "An uplifting, morale boosting book."

If you have read the previous books in the series then listen to this one. If you are slightly older then read it - probably for those in their 40's onwards. If you are looking for something different than gentle loving relationships and bonds between friends and family, forget it.

This is 9th in the series, and I have enjoyed them all and loved Sonnet's story with a catch up on Nina her Mum as well. While this is 'romance' it is more women's fiction and a young person finding her real self.It begins and ends with a wedding, all very satisfying. While this is a series book, it can easily be read by itself, the series just gives backgroound knowledge of some of the minor characters to the reader who has read them all. No big deal.Joyce Bean does an excellent narration.

A little too long, the author could have edited some of the material out, it reminded me of a Danielle Steele saga. Narrator was very good and all in all it was a worthwhile listen.

History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

The second book, every bit as good as the first, read really well. This book sets up for the next, unfortunately that will be some time away.

I do believe I will need to listen to both Divergent and Insurgent again before that third book comes out. So that I am really clear and ready for it. Well written and very well worth the listen.

Firefly Lane is the poignant, powerful story of two women and the friendship that becomes the mainstay of their lives. For 30 years, Tully and Kate buoy each other through life, weathering the storms of friendship: jealousy, anger, hurt, resentment. They think they've survived it all, until a single act of betrayal tears them apart...and puts their courage and friendship to the ultimate test.

A story of relationships, essentially two women, but also about their relationships with others as well. For example mother/daughter. I really like Kristan H's writing so even though this story had its sad moments - tears streamed for the last hour of the book, it was was very good. Now, my next listen needs to be something lighter!

I bought this because of Davinia Porter. She brings this story which would be 3 stars up to 5 stars. When an author chooses the right narrator they are really being very savvy. It was a sweet story and I liked it. This one I will actually enjoy listening to again.
