In Christopher Moore style you get an outrageous and laugh out loud book. The narration of this book is absolutely incredible, in fact the best I've ever heard for an audio book! Susan Bennett delivers a range of character voices that are distinct and absolutely believable from the valley girl to the Rasta man all read with exactly the kind of humour and pace the book required. Very enjoyable.

I like Neil Gaiman as an author, I LOVED Coraline and Sandman and had high hopes for this book. Although the concept was interesting and I enjoyed the idea, the execution was tedious. I was utterly bored listening to this to the point where I put it on 2x speed to get through it faster, skipped entire chapters and discovered I had missed nothing of the plot line. As the interview with the author illuminates in the end many parts of the book came from his meandering travels that seemed forced into the book. Many of the Gods that were introduced were shallow characters that went no where. In the end, if you like extremely detailed descriptions of mundane activities you might like this book. If you want a plot that moves along, go elsewhere.

I work in tech and was looking forward to listening to this book. From the reviews it seems like people either really like this book or hate it. I'm the latter. This book fails on every front; poor writing, bad storytelling and awful narration in which Mr.Chamberlain seems to inflect on every F-word making them seems entirely natural even in a colloquial university setting. The story reads like a raunchy Hollywood Seth Rogen film, is short on facts, and it irks me how he presumes to be in the heads of the characters and tells us what they're "thinking" considering he never even interviewed Mark Zuckerberg. Granted we get a disclaimer before the books starts but everything here is over the top. Waste of my first credit!
