A good story, interesting likable characters, and a very talented reader.
The characters. Although I knew it would have a happy ending, I was curious to see how they would make it happen. Also interesting side stories.
She had a distinct voice for each character and does the male voices very well, which can be a problem for some readers.
This is my favorite audiobook so far. I will be downloading the rest of the books in this series as long as they are read by Ms. Landor.
I normally like Mary Balogh, but this book disappointed me. I found the hero to be self-centered and dull, but kept hoping he would improve as the book went forward. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The heroine, while somewhat more likable, was tedious. I was unable to see what these two saw in each other beyond convenience.
Anne Flosnik's narration seemed unusually formal and stiff, but perhaps she was taking her cue from the humorless tone of the book. I normally don't have a problem with her performance.
