"Welcome back Tom Clancy..."
An old style Clancy novel with all the can't put it down /can't turn it off thrills... Great story, great pace and the good guys win! Reading performance excellent.
"I'm Hooked..."
I'm always leary about starting a new book that's a part of the a series. You have to go back to the beginning to understand some of the complexities of what's going on and that means that you don't read the book that's most current and about which people are talking. Well, I'm glad I started this series because the first book in it (Dauntless) has been great. One of the messages of this story is that just because something is old, that doesn't make it bad. In the case of this book, only John (Blackjack) Geary has the ability to see that his society has, to some degree, taken on the dispicable attributes of the enemy they have been fighting for 100 years. It appears that no one else can see this because they have a vision of the past that is distorted by myth and legend. Geary as a character shows his humanity and his abhorrence of the inaccurate legend that has come to reprepresent him. The book is about leadership that is ethical and humane as much as it is about cool and seemingly well-research science. A great read.
"Great Story!"
A great story that fills in some gaps in Mitch Rapp's early CIA life. The story is vintage Flynn with twists and turns and builds as it moves on. A great read.
"Another winner"
This book in the Mitch Rapp series carries on the tradition of excellent work by Flynn. A disconcerting storyline that makes the reader uncomfortable and Mitch to the rescue. Great reading performance by Guidall as always.
"Another Good Mitch Rapp book"
The Mitch Rapp chronicles continue well with this book. Good story with some interesting twists that I didn't see coming. The performance is good as well.
"A Great Read"
Red Cell is Mark Henshaw's first novel and it's excellent. The story bounces around a bit at the beginning, not in a distracting way, but in a way that compels you to stay engaged and pay attention. I liistened to the book in my car during the 30' drives to and from work. There were times duing the second half of the book that I took the long route just to be able to listen longer! The characters have lots of depth and the story is wonderfully detailed. The narration by Rob Patterson was well done and complemented the excellent story. I'm definitely a Henshaw fan and will look forward to upcoming novels.
"Ok, but..."
I have read everything by Goodkind and have been looking forward to more stories in the "Seeker" series. It was nice to see the continued development of the story, but this book really needs some editing. The author repeats word images over and over with only slightly different phrasing. I will continue to buy Goodkind stories, but I would really like to see them tightened up. Enjoyed the narration very much.
"Outstanding Glimpse of a Hopefully Past Time"
This book is an engaging and uplifting snapshot of a time hopefully gone from our present. The characters are rich, with some more complex than others. Yet the complexity of the characters seems intentional. Less complex are those who live the shallowness of bigotry...and that's an appropriate representation of their humanity. The narration perfectly fit the story. I hope this author continues to write...she's gifted.
