Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit—and werewolves—in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

"Loved this romance from a non romance lover"
    Overall

The combination of Victorian society with werewolves and vampires was fun. This was my first listen and I was hooked. Very good narrator.

Bahzell Bahnakson of the Horse Stealer hradani had never wanted to be the champion of the War God. Unfortunately, the War God had insisted. Which was how he had found himself among hostile strangers in the Empire of the Axe - except that that was only the least of his problems. For a start, there was the Order of Tomanak, who were horrified that their deity had chosen a hradani as champion, and were resolved to rectify the matter in a most unpleasant fashion.

Where does The War God's Own rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a fast pace light read. The narrator is one of the best I have heard.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

At times I found listening to some aspect of the different ways each group of peoples behaved in this word to be tedious . I understand the author was creating a whole world but at times the story got bogged down in description.

Three years have passed since the widowed Dowager Royina Ista found release from the curse of madness that kept her imprisoned in her family's castle of Valenda. Her newfound freedom is costly, bittersweet with memories, regrets, and guilty secrets, for she knows the truth of what brought her land to the brink of destruction. And now the road, escape, beckons...A simple pilgrimage, perhaps. Quite fitting for the Dowager Royina of Chalion.

I completely utterly enjoyed this audio book. I found myself eagerly waiting for the opportunity to continual my listening. Kate Reading is an wonderful reader I will be looking for more books read by her. Lois Bujoid has created is believable alternate universe were the gods interact with their chosen. The universe has a logic of it's own. I was remained a little of the Kushiel series.

Amidst the decaying splendor and poisonous intrigue of Chalion's ancient capital, Cazaril is forced to confront not only powerful enemies but also the malignant curse that clings to the royal household, trapping him, flesh and soul, in a maze of demonic paradox, damnation, and death for as long as he dares walk the five-fold pathway of the gods.

    Overall

This was my kind of listen, the narration was wonderful. Voices fit the characters. The language was beautiful and poetic in its description the world of Chalion. The plot was unpredictable with a hint of fantasy. I definitely would pick this narrator and author again. The description of court dynamics and intrigue remained me a little of the Kushiel series
