I read this book when I was younger and I absolutely loved it. I decided to get the audio version and Stina Nielson completely brought it to life for me! I LOVE Louise Rennison's Georgia Nicolson books. They are so hilarious and so much fun. I have downloaded the rest of the series and I've been laughing through all of them. Don't pass up this fun (and funny!) book. Even as an adult, I still love to read and re-read this series.
This has become my new favorite audiobook, hands down. Kathryn Stockett is an incredible writer and I am so happy that I chose to listen to this book. The narrators are incredible and made me feel as if I were there with each of them; a part of their world and a part of the stories being told. I actually cried when Abeline cried because, by the end of the book, I was so emotionally attached to the story and to the characters that I just couldn't help it. I cheered for Minny, Abeline, and Skeeter in their struggle and mentally applauded them for their bravery. I cannot imagine or even pretend to know what life was like for women like Minny and Abeline, but I do know that I feel so inspired and so fortunate to have listened to their stories and to have had the chance to share in their lives... fictitious or not.
