This was an interesting study of a great man as seen through the eyes of those who knew him best, as well as through his personal writings and letters. The book was fact based, informative and surprisingly humorous at times, as Lincoln did indeed, have quite a sense of humor. Lincoln was able to find the light side and humor, even among harsh circumstances. Interestingly, as President, he had an open door policy and hardly anyone was ever turned away. He was a common man, self-taught who learned by doing, for he was not formally schooled. He was a self made made man that carried with him-a sense of humor, genuine common sense and a vision for our country.
A wonderful book for someone who desires a greater understanding of Lincoln's life, which begins with him as a child. Although slow moving and dry at times, the insight into Lincoln as a man and as The President was well worth my listening time.

The summary of the book sounded good so I thought I would give this book a try. Honestly, I think the summary sounded more appealing than the story proved to be. There wasn't a whole lot of depth in the characters. I spent most of the time waiting for the climax and when that finally arrived...flat. That's the best word I can use to describe it. The mother/daughter bond didn't seem particularly strong. She tries to help one of her employees and although we know this person is important, I don't know if he was important to her, the historical property she takes care of or simply someone to save. Either way, I felt like I wasn't able to care about these people since the author doesn't give you enough to care about them.
And again, the climax was rather confusing. She has no phone, we assume she needs some help and when she was able to get to a phone, she starts talking about information! (I don't want to give away too much.) She doesn't say call 911, she doesn't say she is worried about her daughter and her ex-husband or boyfriend, I can't recall.

And unfortunately, the end of the book was frustrating! You think its going to go one way, you assume, hope it's going to go one way and yet again, this falls flat.

I'm aggravated with the author and the book. It was a true disappointment. I know everyone sees things differently and I'm sure there are others who will love the book. This is just my opinion which in the overall scheme of things, probably doesn't matter very much at all.

By all means read the reviews for, "Broken." The book is in the wrong order. I'm not sure if the author chose to have us read it in this order of if someone at Audible has made a mistake but it should be switched. "Broken" needs to be #3 in the series and "Undone" should be #4. I wish I would have read through the reviews to find that out but I purchased it right away and looked at the reviews later on.

Book was good and yes, it was more descriptive in the violence but the story was good and the ending was surprising, just what a thriller/mystery book should be. I don't think anyone would be disappointed using a credit or paying outright for this book.

Necessary. Not exactly thrilling. Not exactly sure what amount of time has passed from book 2 to book 3. However, its worth a listen, if only because we need to know about what's happening to the cluster of main characters.

I will admit it was not as thrilling as, "Fractured" or "Broken" but the story was pretty good and the narrator did a great job as well. The first two books in the series focused a lot of attention on the relationships, the important people in Will's life. They were like thread in a sweater weaving their way in and out, up and about Will and the crime he needs to solve. Will's relationships and the story, the murder investigation was woven together seamlessly and was especially appearant in book 2 of the series, "Fractured."

This book wasn't as strong as the first 2 but it was a necessary book. The crime was not exactly thrilling and although it did have a climax I wasn't well, satisfied. No pun intended. The crime at the beginning of the book was good, well written and I was compelled to read through it till it was over. Other than that...the climax at the end wasn't clear. I am not a writer but the wrapping up/climax/who done it near the end of the book was flat. I have no idea where this person came from, this person wasn't even mentioned throughout the book (at least as far as I remember) and at the end and I was thinking, huh???

I had an issue with Trent's "new" partner. Faith was offered a job at the GBI and was partnered with Will. The two of them are great together. She appears in book 2, "Fractured" and was partnered with Will at that time. This all takes place near the end of the book but then I get to book 3 and its like, okay...what year are we in, how much time has passed? She's also pregnant and nearing her due date. I don't get it. Perhaps I was in the shower while listening to the audio but I have no clue how this all happened or where we are as far as time. A crime was alluded to as if they partnered on it perhaps a couple of sentences alluding to time passing but now Faith is pregnant. Who is the father? Where is that relationship? I can guess but that's about it.

I think the problem lies in the timeline. Its like it was started in the middle of somewhere and the reader is just supposed to go from there. I had a hard time with that. Overall I agree that this is not the best book in the series but it was a necessary book in the series. Certain things had to happen, relationships had to happen, branching out of Will's GBI base had to happen. I just downloaded book 4, "Undone" and I look forward to listening. I hope she does tie up some of those loose ends. The relationships in a novel have to be strong (this is of course all according to my opinion) or you just end up with an event that happens with stray people floating in and out of the picture with no reason why they are there, who they are or what ties they have to other people.

I think back to the summary I read before I chose this title. I thought it would be a fluffy, happy book, just the right kind of easy, light listens to make my day. Boy was I wrong! Now let me tell you what exactly I mean by that. It is not, "fluffy" or light by any means. This story has substance! This isn't a cute, fluffy book, it is insightful, wise and rich. I absolutely love the characters, every single one of them!! That doesn't happen to me very often.
Ceecee is a courageous girl. As much as the author portrays the issues she is dealing with we also get to see in her the innocence that is still wrapped within her heart. The story has reminded me of the beautiful women that grace my life. Every chapter seemed to present another time to once again bask in the glow of being a young girl again, or how much someone can love us, or how people come into our lives and make us better women.

The narrator was perfect! I can't imagine anyone else narrating this story, it just wouldn't work. I can't say I've ever heard Jenna Lamia narrate a book before so I cannot speak to any of her other work but she nailed every character!

Truly, I think if you love movies like, "Steel Magnolia's" or "Where the Heart Is" you will fall in love with this book! Thank you Beth Hoffman for making my heart feel so warm. I would love to hear more from these characters!

Yes, I would listen to this audio book again! I absolutely loved listening to Elizabeth McGovern. She played the characters well without sounding like she was acting or trying to pull something off. She was clear and well spoken, adding her own touches to the cadence of words and feelings.

The story is fantastic. I loved the characters. There was nothing glorified, no one personality that overshadowed one over another. There was of course a main character but there were supporting characters that presented and gave importance to the story line. These too had strong personalities and/or important roles but really they all came together so seemlessly. I loved that I had a chance to not only get a glimpse into their lives but feel as though I had actually sat down and had coffee together. I loved being a part of their life for this short time and was sorry to have to say goodbye to them as the book came to a close.

This is the first book I've listened to by Laura Moriarty and I see that she does indeed have more books I will look forward to reading and/or listen to. I haven't yet checked but I will see if Elizabeth McGovern has more novels she has narrated. She is perfect and has a perfect voice for narration.

This is the first performance by Elizabeth McGovern that I have had the pleasure of listening to. She was fantastic! There are some narrators that are easily forgotten and some that are worth remembering. She is worth remembering.

From Unwrapped Candy to Unwrapped Hearts

This book may be on the short side but it's very important to the overall story. I loved this series and I would actually, listen to it again. Considering I listen to books and buy every month-every other month its a very good thing when one book or one series stands out above the crowd. I'm not a particular fan of, "tween-teen" stories but this on was great. Its worth a listen! Now if only Rachel Vincent would write more books it would put the cherry on top of the sundae.

I loved listening to his life before he became a reaper and the reason why he was the one who ended up dying that day.

Yes, I would recommend this to my friends. Somewhere within this genre there are books that tell great stories, absorbing plots and genuine, deep characters. I'm in my 40's and have never been one to cast away so called, "teen" books as there are excellent authors writing excellent stories. HOWEVER...my friends only became interested when the characters included vampires, werewolves and dense high school girls. I hate to harp on this but enough is enough! I have nothing against the Twilight books, I saw the movies but I do not have true to life cut-out characters in my bedroom nor will I clear my schedule in November when the last movie is shown at the theatres. But each to his own. If you're interested in the teen genre, there are good, imaginative stories to be read and this is one of them. Considering I've listened only to this short intro, I cannot say with absolute certainty that the series won't introduce a vampire but at least it isn't the only draw to the book! Young or old (yes, like me at 40...lol) I think you will enjoy this. Give it a listen, its free and by the time you're finished, I predict that you'll be tempted to buy the next book in the series.

One of the most memorable moments in the book (and there are several packed into this listen) occured at the beginning of the story. Kaylee ((I may not be spelling her name correctly, my apologies) and her friend head over to the mall, chatting and behaving like typical teenage girls. Suddenly Kaylee's mouth clenches shut, her eyes go wide and she stands frozen, caught up in what Kaylee believes is a panic attack. Her friend attmepts to comfort her, they sit down, they talk. They try shopping once again and right in the middle of Sears, Kaylee sees something that again, throws her into complete terror, clenches her jaw shut in an atteimpt to stifle a scream but this time, she looses all self-control. To speak of what happens to her next would be a story spoiler. I will say that Kaylee has the ability to plainly see what it is that may or may not surround a person. It is not clear if what she sees is potentially dangerous to everyone, dangerous only to the person it surrounds or simply a foreshadowing of events that will happen to this individual. I will have to buy the next book in the series to find out what is true.

No, I haven't listened to anything other performances by Amanda Ronconi. I absolutely love the performance she gives in this book. I was really impressed by the way she was able nail the, "teenage" girls giving them the typical scarcastic, self-absorbed way they think and speak, even down the, "like" word interspersed in their sencentes.
She's a great performance artist and I will search for other books she narrates!

I don't know about extreme but it was truly moved by the sheer terror Kaylee experienced when they were in Sears. She was wholly and completely caught in a moment of fear, loss of self control, clawing at her neck in an attempt to make it stop, screaming without the power to make it stop and then colapsing on the floor, being removed by security guards because she lost all sense of herself. She was utterly consumed by the images and the feelings they provoked. I truly felt sorry for her.

This book completely transformed my life. I happend to be going through some similar circumstance. You absolutely, MUSt read this book. I can't say enough good things about this book! I think you must experience this for yorself as I truly believe it has a great transoring effect on every individual's life, situation and manner of thinking.

What more is there to say? It's Dragnet. I love the radio series and I just had to buy a few episodes.
I love they way the way they speak and how they interview people. This is was a good listen!
