I agree with the first reviewer. You feel like you're listening to a novel meant for kids. The narration is ok but the story just gets more inane the deeper you go.
Yes - it's funny as hell.
It made me laugh out loud.
This is Dave Barry's best in my opinion.
I laughed throughout the entire story - out loud!
Just buy it - it's hilarious.
Flashforward is based upon an interesting plot line however the constant references to the Nobel Prize, especially at the end of the novel, worn on me since the Nobel has lost most of its credibility in the world.
It's obvious that the author is Canadian because of the many gratuitous references.
I also found the author's writing style a bit trite.
Although the plot sounded promising, I have only managed to get through 1/3 of this book and I am giving up. It puts me to sleep and the dialog seems overly contrived. I will not be finishing it.
I am now spoiled and I worry that iI won't find another book as good as this one. I'm not a huge science fiction fan but this book isn't your typical sci-fi novel, it's much more. The narration for this book was also the best I heard on Audible. I know it's 2 credits but it's worth it.
I thought this book would be much better than it turned out to be. I enjoyed Gibson's first book but this seems too contrived. Character development is weak and the plot is unremarkable. I would not recommend this book.
I was skeptical about this title due to overly glowing reviews on Amazon. I have to say that the glowing reviews were warranted.
Everyone is looking to create or be next 'iPod'. This book tells you how it's done and cites real world examples. Highly recommended.
The title "Next" should prompt you to skip this book and go to your next audio book. This book is not very good. The plot is weak and so is its thinly veiled political statement. I didn't feel any connection with any of the characters. It was essentially a waste of my time.
I expected much better from Michael Crichton.
I consider myself an Independent. But just like "Commander and Chief" is a pro-Hillary TV series designed to acclimate Americans to idea of a women (Hillary) as president, this book is an obviously one-sided attempt at doing the same thing. It's easy to make a case for anything when you spin the truth and omit critical facts. Unfortunately that's what has been done here.
