New York Times best-selling author Richelle Mead takes readers back to the Otherworld, an embattled realm mystically entwined with our world--and ruled by one woman's dangerous choice. Shaman-for-hire Eugenie Markham is the best at banishing entities trespassing in the mortal realm. But as the Thorn Land's queen, she's fast running out of ways to end the brutal war devastating her kingdom. Her only hope: the Iron Crown, a legendary object even the most powerful gentry fear.

Cheryl says: "Sorry I used my last credit this month on this one"
    "best of the series"
    Overall

Great development of the various relationships. A lot of the same paranormal plot points take place, but they are more believeable with this main character. The final book comes out in January. Wish it was sooner.

With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    Better story different narrator.

Has Dark Witch turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. I wish there were more urban fantasy.

How could the performance have been better?

It was over acted. Was there a director for this performance? Her choices were terrible throughout. I almost returned it. As it is, I did not even care to listen to the end.

What character would you cut from Dark Witch?

    N/a

    Any additional comments?

Nora...magic is great, but please get a new formula.

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever. Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

Katheryne says: "I loved it, but its not for everyone"
    "Great end"
    Overall

I loved this series and wished it could continue! Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante are so wonderful as these characters. Go back and redo the first part of the series, please! I'd buy them again.

MacKayla Lane's ordinary life underwent a complete makeover when she landed on Ireland's shores and was plunged into a world of deadly sorcery and ancient secrets. In her fight to stay alive, Mac must find the Sinsar Dubh - a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over both the world of the Fae and of Man.

"great series - not great narrator"
    Overall

Moning's Highlander Series and Fever series are great. Book 1 is very slow, book 2 gets better...but things don't really get great until the narrator (Joyce Bean) is replaced in book 4 and 5. I wish they'd redo 1-3 with the narrarating team from the end of the series.

  • Dead Reckoning: Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mystery #11

With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but her attention is divided when she realizes that her lover, Eric Northman, and his "child", Pam, are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, Sookie is drawn into the plot - which is much more complicated than she knows.

"ok -- ready for the end"
    Overall

It may be HBO's fault...It's hard to keep track of what is happening in True Blood and what happens in the books. Maybe because HBO takes way too long to film a TV series?!! I like the Sookie from the books, but the concepts--Sookie's politics, romances, cousins, friends, etc., are all starting to drag. I'd like to see the series wrapped up in the 1 more book, but I'm worried there are so many loose ends that it will take longer than that. Pick a vampire, werewolf or fairy and go with it.

Eugenie Markham is a shaman for hire, paid to bind and banish creatures from the Otherworld. But after her last battle, she s also become queen of the Thorn Land. It's hardly an envious life, not with her kingdom in tatters, her love life in chaos, and Eugenie eager to avoid the prophecy about her firstborn destroying mankind. And now young girls are disappearing from the Otherworld, and no one--except Eugenie--seems willing to find out why.

    "good series"

I like the narrator. This series is good paranormal romance. It's nice to have a break from teen vampires.

Eugenie Markham is a powerful shaman who does a brisk trade banishing spirits and fey who cross into the mortal world. Mercenary, yes, but a girl's got to eat. Her most recent case, however, is enough to ruin her appetite. Hired to find a teenager who has been taken to the Otherworld, Eugenie comes face to face with a startling prophecy - one that uncovers dark secrets about her past and claims that Eugenie's first-born will threaten the future of the world as she knows it.

    "Narrator is fine"
    Overall

I worried about the narrarator from the reviews here. She's fine...don't worry. Maybe a little mature? But her character voices are all fine to good. She does men well. This series is great. More depth to it than the succubus series. I listened to them all in a few days and am eager for the last one to come out in January.
