I often feel for women growing up in this period of time. There was so much responsibility to remain "a lady". A proper woman isn't suppose to know much about anything just bow to her man's wants and look pretty. The heroin in this Prince Charming is a strong, opinionated woman. I like the way the author builds each character throughout the book so we get to experience their believable change in attitudes and the reality of their life's unpredicable situations. The book flows and each detail is brought together smoothly.

Excellent book and Rosalyn Landor is the perfect narrator.

This was such a fun book. The story was great, the sex scenes perfect, not over the top and the characters absolutely wonderful. If you want to listen to a fun, romantic novel, listen to this one. And of course I must say, I love Susan Duerden's narration. She is absolutely the best with characters. Julie Garwood's characters are always different and extremely interesting.

I really believe this book would have been so much better had the narrator not been so melodramatic. I truly like Lorraine Heath books but this one, I didn't, not so much. I understand romance is truly formula writing however, there are writers like Julie Garwood who put such a different twist on the plot that it makes the book worth listening to and enjoy. With that said, if the narrator is over-dramatic, making the female voice shake everytime she uses the word, "love", it takes away from the book.

So through a lot of the book I found myself rolling my eyes.

I absolutely love Julie Garwood's characters and story telling. The women in this historical romance genre are always demure but strong. This book is similar and not as good as The Secret but still an amazing listen. Again I will comment on how much I love Susan Duerden's narration. Although it's a matter of personal taste as one reviewer didn't like her voices, I think they are absolutely amazing. She bring's Julie Garwood's words to life!

The story is good. I believe with a different narrator, it would have been much better. I found the narration flat which made me not like the character. A good narrator sells the story. However, this is my opinion. The story was ok. I didn't have much empathy for the main character.

Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered.

Susan Duerden is an awesome narrator. I have never listened to a woman who could get the essence of the characters so well. Her voices are absolutely amazing. Oh yes, and I truly enjoyed this audio book. Just right in the story telling and the intimate encounters. Not over the top sex but just right. I don't think I'm a prude but taking a whole chapter (unless you're looking for that of course) to describe a sex is a little much for me. Personally, I like the intimate encounters however the story should move forward. I really like Julie Garwood's writing and will download future audio books.

    Excellent listen.

What really impressed me about this book was the narration. This is the first time I've heard a female narrator get the male voice right. The main character, the Prince in this novel sounds truly sexy and believable. Men talk in shorter sentences with a difference cadance, I believe. This narrator did more than just lower her voice. The story is also entertaining and takes a different approach to the Cinderella story.

Any woman caught in his presence was immediately ruined. From beginning to end, the story is captivating; the theme different and truly unique. A mentally ill hero? Wow. To be honest, I usually do not like Angela Dawe's narration (Nalini Singh's novels)however, Angela did a great job. It was even a plus to find this book on sale.

If you like romance, I believe you'll truly believe like this book.

I have a lot of these books to download now and I am looking forward to downloading them all. The first one I didn't like so much and I suppose it was because I had to get acclamated to the character,Eve, the policewoman. In the first book she was so "hard" and emotionally inaccessible, cold and hard. I couldn't understand how any man especially a rich, fine, one could love someone like this character. Now as I listened to book 2, her character begins to become tender, open even loving to her mate. This is because her character with experience and understanding from her georgeous boyfriend has grown.

And again Susan Ericksen is one of the best narrators I've listened to. She is superb!

I did not like the narration. I understand that in the 1800s the upper class English, all those Lords, Dukes and Dutcheses were rich and probably bored. But the narrator who I believe attempted to express this boredom made the characters sound extremely dull and of course, bored. There was one character, a dutchess who rants and raves in the beginning of the book. She woke me up. But then everybody sounded bored again, even the Texans in the book had those dull, drab, whispery (there goes that word again) bored voices.

Oh Susan Erickson, you have spoiled me with great narration and dramatic flair in the scoundrels series.
