Nice but incomplete
yes, I guess so, since without reading the other books of the series you get an unfinished history.
He's a very good narrator
No. But the Pearl Harbor and Philippines parts are very interesting
I like Alan Cumming as Eli Gold (The Good Wife), but this memoir book is awful. We should empathize with the abuse he suffered as a kid, but the bitter tone of the book makes it very hard to enjoy.
Even if you don't like audiobooks this is one I recommend. Super narration of the audiobook by Christian Rodska, it seems that Sir Winston Churchill himself is telling the history. It's hard to pick the best quote from this book.
Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few
We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.
I would say to the House as I said to those who have joined this government: I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering.
I simple wouldn't write it. It seems in some moments that Baldacci is outsourcing his writing.
I suppose so. I like his books, but this one was awful.
They are very good narrators and saved the book.
I hope Baldacci returns to being himself. The characters of this books are so shallow I don't have any empathy with them.
I never saw the print version, but the narration is fantastic.
It was a very pleasant reading and I look forward to completing the series.
His voice adds life to the characters.
Sir Winston Churchill in a first hand account tell us the steps that put the World in jeopardy during WWII.
It's one of the books in my Top 10 list.
No. Once is enough for most books and definitely for this one.
The history starts well but it unwinds in very forecastable manner.
When one of the defense witness fall apart.
I was very curious about the operation Geronimo that killed UBL. That book answered most of my questions
It's one of the best Audiobooks I've read at Audible.com
Its kind unique in it's details and depiction of the 40's in Ireland. But I think Jessica, from Bryce Courtenay is as powerful as this.
I think Frank McCourt is the center of the book and the best character.
I think the actual tagline is good: "The Hopes of a Mother. The Dreams of a Father. The Fate of a Child."
I'm not sure since I never read it in print.
Yes. The book is pretty entertaining and the author keeps the suspense on.
I think the narration was very good and gave life to the characters.
Actually no. But it was fun.
