Hold on to your Mr William or whatever. Fast paced roller coster listen. A story about Corparate infighting, romance, success, rejection and love. Excellent writing with well defined enjoyable characters. My best listen this year (over 100 this year)
This is good for the teen listener. Simple plot, simple characters. John Wayne styled Marine's go forward at all costs. Not to save America from the Japan invasion but save the entire world from extintion by the Mahines. I will not go forward with book #2
I was living in Biloxi in 1955. I was aware of the Jim Crow Laws. I am white and did not question these laws. I became educated in the late 60's and my attitude changed. My views on segregation were enlighten and I became an outspoken advocate of civil rights.
I fear I was in the minority among my peer group. I was labeled a Communist by most. I learned about this Commi label 20 years later, I was amused. Now about this wonderful book.I was returned to Mississippi as it was for me in 1955. How innocent, naive, and ignorant I was. This book and its stories was so very sad joyful and lovingly told. Very amusing when told in the black vernacular. A vernacular that was unavailable to me in 1955. By 1985 things were so very much better but were still far from equal. I mention 1985 because this is the year I visited The Republic of South Africa. The name Jim Crow was not used, in its place was Apartheid. The first time I heard my bellman address me as masser (or master) I felt ill to my stomach. I tried to ask about their problems but was unable to get a response until one black man stop our elevator between floors and asked me if I was really interested. Yes I am was my response. We agreed to meet in the International ( a term used for a non segregated restaurant) Restaurant. He would have to ask his white boss for permission. I never saw the man again. From that day forward for the next two months I kept my mouth shut about apartheid. Listen to this wonderful book.
It tells the real story.
Well written but much to graphic for my taste. The horrors of war have been described ad nauseam. But its a good romance story
The writer is a no talent hack THIS BOOK STINKS
Well, well, well, I have been an avid reader of fantasy/sf since 1952 and I believed I had read the best and there was nothing that would capture and hold my attention again as stories and books did in my early years. I was captivated by the wonderful people and their lives. I was in love again while at the same time I was contemplating my own mortality. What a wonderful surprise
Thank you Miss Audrey
