When Dr. Mike Scanlon is called to serve as an army doctor in Afghanistan, he’s acutely aware of the dangers he’ll face and the hardships it will bring his wife, Chloe, and their newborn baby. And deep inside, he doesn’t think of himself as a hero, but a healer. However, in an ironic turn of events, as Mike operates on a wounded soldier in a war-torn country, Chloe dies at home in the suburbs, in an apparently freak household accident. Devastated, he returns home to bury her, only to discover that the life he left behind has fallen apart.

Where does The Good Father rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is up there with the best. I love when different voices are utilized and I felt the voices were equal to the characters role.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Good Father?

I really can't say, I loved the way the story came together

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

    Travis by far

Who was the most memorable character of The Good Father and why?

Travis, only 22 years old and what wisdom and insight. Although I loved all the characters exclusive of the bad guys obviously!!

Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

Would you listen to Where'd You Go, Bernadette again? Why?

OMG, yes, I am sure I missed so much and this is definitely a dialogue vs. action book

What did you like best about this story?

Spontaneous and so different, I laughed out loud many times, it was so bizarre but you can't make this stuff up. I loved the sign incident, but it was such a sweet story.

Have you listened to any of Kathleen Wilhoite’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not sure, but I was OK with her, after all she made me laugh

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Is this for real?

    Any additional comments?

Loved this book, I am sorry it ended and I don't say that about too many books

What made the experience of listening to A Conflict of Interest the most enjoyable?

Although predictable, still spontaneous.. I loved this book and could not stop listening. The author, the narrator, excellent but what a great story. I don't mean to say that although I guessed some of the plot I was also taken aback as well, I love this guy and hope he has another book out quickly. I loved the reality.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that this book has such an insight to everyday life

    Which scene was your favorite?

I would have to say when Alex committed purgery

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Explosive

    "Still Alice"
    Overall

Although I have been using audible for many years, I have yet to offer a review. Ironic, since I depend on everyone else's review to determine my purchase.

I am an avid reader as well as listener. This book has made such an impression that I cannot describe. It is so sad but at the same time such an insight. I think I stop and think, gee you think you have problems, guess again. I truly believe the author either experienced this disease or did a heck of job on research. Now the review I read in regard to "Left Neglected" make perfect sense. It is almost as though it was written by a different author. Still Alice is beautiful as well as gut wrenching. I can tell you that this book is a must in order to appreciate this disease. I can attest to this because I have had loved ones (Not relatives) who had this disease, one being my English teacher.
