"Too much detail in some areas not enough in others"
Not as compelling as I thought it would be.
Added more information about the victims and more specific detail about the investigation and how investigators were effected by the grisly nature of the case. Possibly more detail about Petiot's imprisonment. If I wanted to know that much about the liberation of Paris I would read
Not sure I had one. Everything was written so matter of factly that there was little that truly stood out.
Not if it followed the book. It would be so long and so wordy as to make a movie hours long with little if any real sense of story.
Really Disappointing book.
"Nothing New here"
Addition of information about the average Japanese sailor and more about the reaction of the military, the Emperor, and the Japanese people to the first major defeat of World War II.
Already knew what happened, so no surprises here.
Well done narration of a less than exciting version of a well-known story.
Already been done. But it would be good if it were done in the same manner as:
Tora, Tora, Tora.
"Not what at all it advertises"
Anyone unfamiliar with the battle for Tarawa may gain some knowledge.
If this book had truly contained the kind of information available only to those who were there on the ground and what they experienced and saw the book miight have been great. Instead it was primarily a rehash of what the major players (e.g., generals, colonels, majors admirals, etc.) did and said. I stopped reading about 2/3s of the way through due the lack of individual marine or soldiers reports.
None
It was well written as a command report.
"Good Book Not so good narrator"
This is anexcellent work that gives voice to what happened to the surviving members of Torpedo 8 after the losses suffered at the Battle of Midway.
The narrator is another story. Mr. Hill apparently dosen't change his reading style from book to book. I'ne listened to several of the Jack Reacher novels and his delivery here is unchaned and just as snarky. Again, really good book, not so great narration. Fours stars would have been five but for the narration.
