heartwarming, neighborhood, friends
The Jan Karon Mitford series. It is about a Man of God, his church members, and the towns people living together. How God works everything out and the choices we make.
Yes I did. He has a warm voice. Very expressive.
Yes, but life wouldn't allow such luxury. Besides it prolonged the ending. Like the Jan Karon books, I find that I miss the characters once I'm finished reading.
I hope the author plans to write a series.
The narrator had a nice voice, but I am not sure if it was her performance or just the story that was disappointing. I have a feeling it was both. I generally like books that incorporate the yarn hobby, but this one didn't seem to have a character to like nor a character to hate. The killer came out of left field and I don't remember a good setup. I had no desire to try to predict the killer like I do in other mysteries. That means there wasn't anything to go on to spur my interaction with the story. I didn't like the overabundance of descriptions. It didn't make me feel like I was there or visualize the scene, it felt like unnecessary bloat. I was very disappointed because I’ve wanted to read this series for a very long time. I must not click with the author - I am sure there are those who do.
Yes, I liked the stories from all the people she interviewed.
Pretty good character voices.
Actually, when everyone talked about how they learned to knit and why they knit now, I really enjoyed that. I could identify with them. I felt as if I was among other knitters.
Yes because I am a great admirer of RA Salvatore's writing and the narrator was very talented.
Pirate King because it is the sequel to the Orc King.
It's the same guy.
Great work from both author and narrator.
PS my husband listened to these books not me. He is the fan of RA Salvatore.
Good writing coupled with good narration equals good listening experience.
He has a great voice and his characterization brings depth to an already good story.
First audiobook with this narrator was a good experience. Would listen to more of his work.
The narration. Unable to finish the book because the narration was so bad.
Unable to finish the book because the narration was so bad so I don't know if the plot was any good.
Narration is key to any audiobook, PARAMOUNT even. A good narrator can make the worst of stories better and great stories exquisite. I would listen to the newspaper if David Suchet, Tom Baker, Norman Dietz, Tim Curry, or John McDonough read them.
John McDonough's narration of course.
The prequel of course. (A Miracle for St. Cecilia's)
He has a great voice and a good sense of timing and drama.
I thought this was supposed to be considered an "inspirational" book. "Recorded Books Inspirational" "Dedicated to stories of faith and the human spirit." This is what the introduction to the book says. So how can you (the publisher - not Audible) classifiy it that way when a couple of times in the book, God's name is taken in vain - yet the author uses alternative slang for other curse words like heck and darn. Except for those curses, the story was ok. Not as good as the prequel.
The description of the story used to entice the reader.
Erase it and start over.
I didn't have a favorite.
The story was ok. A bit sad. It would be nice if the description of the story (any story) indicated the tone. I didn't agree with the description. It lead you to believe that even though the main character's husband died, she found a new life. There was not a happier ending. The sadness/sense of loss was from start to finish.
Absolutely. Tom Baker has an excellent voice and his delivery is perfect.
Well, it is a classic story even if Charles Dickens is a bit off.
No I haven't. I did realize he did. I would listen to the newspaper if Tom read it.
Old grouch gets a personality overhaul.
David Suchet narration.
It is a typical Agatha Christie story.
If you love to be read to, David Suchet is the perfect reader.
