It's been 14 years since Thursday pegged out at the 1988 SuperHoop, and Friday is now a difficult 16-year-old. However, Thursday's got bigger problems. Sherlock Holmes is killed, and his series is stopped in its tracks. And before this can be corrected, Miss Marple dies suddenly in a car accident, bringing her series to a close as well. When Thursday receives a death threat clearly intended for her written self, she realizes what's going on: there is a serial killer on the loose in the Bookworld.

Tzungmay says: "As amazing as the previous ones!"
    "Still pretty good"
    Overall

Not as good as the first novels, but still pretty good. I do hope there are more.

In A.D. 327, a Roman galley barely escapes a pirate attack with its extraordinary cargo. In 1916, a British warship mysteriously explodes in the middle of the North Sea. In the present day, a cluster of important mosques in Turkey and Egypt are wracked by explosions. Does anything tie them together? NUMA director Dirk Pitt is about to find out.

Michael says: "Something new from Cussler"
    "Couldn't care less"
    Overall

I have read every Clive Cussler book I could geat my hands on and never have I cared less about what was going to happen next. Things just happened to all of the characters; there was no mystery they figured out; there was no plot to double cross or trap the bad guy. They were followed and had no clue. The bad guys just showed up in a nearly random fashion and eventually self destructed. It was all too coincindental and boring.

Jack Ryan, the former president of the United States, is out of office, but not out of the loop about his brainchild, the “Campus” - a highly effective, counter-terrorism organization that operates outside the Washington hierarchy. But what Ryan doesn’t know is that his son, Jack Ryan, Jr., has joined his cousins, Brian and Dominic Caruso, at the shadowy Campus. While a highly effective analyst, young Ryan hungers for the action of a field agent.

Robert B. Wales says: "Same great Clancey - Great narration"
    "What plot?"
    Overall

I listened to the first 1/3 (5 hours) of the book and still had not found a common thread between any of the players. I enjoyed each little story, but was not interested in what happened next. This is the first book I have not completed and maybe I'll come back to it, but for now, I'm moving on to something else.

Two years after the events of the Audiobook of the Year - The Chopin Manuscript - former war crimes investigator Harold Middleton and his Volunteers once again must crack a secretive conspiracy that not only threatens their lives, but the stability of the world. Their race against time will take them from London to the U.S. to Russia and beyond. And at the heart of it all is one question: What is the secret of the Copper Bracelet?

    Reg says: "Excellent Read!!!"
    "No clues"
    Overall

I like mysteries and I like to try to put the pieces together, but this book had no clues. I just had to go along for the ride and wait until they told me stuff. Nothing was ever figured out by anyone. I do like the concept, but The Chopin Manuscript was much better.

This is a story about a lump of coal who can think, talk, and move itself around. Is there a more charming holiday tale to behold? Probably, but Lemony Snicket has not written one.

Jason Bourne needs to regain his life as David Webb, so he accepts an invitation from his beloved mentor, Dominic Specter, to join the Linguistics department at Georgetown. It's a relief to leave the Bourne identity behind, but Jason soon finds himself in a life-or-death confrontation in which every move might be his last.

    Regan says: "He's no Ludlum!"
    "Couldn't wait till it ended"
    Overall

I didn't think this book would ever end. There was nothing to figure out, all the plot was revealed during conversations often with random people met totally by chance. Bourne was stupid and didn't out flank anyone in this one, just sailed along as people told him stuff. The Americans only worried about their careers fighting between agencies and didn't even know there was a terrorist attack planned. Bourne bounced around working for first one group then another, sometimes two at a time? People trying to kill him for no reason except thier own careers. One agency hires random people off the street with no training? Don't waste your money or time.

Fresh from her bruising battle with a psychopath in Florida, Scarpetta decides it's time for a change of pace. Moving to Charleston, South Carolina, she opens a unique private forensic pathology practice, one in which she and her colleagues, including Pete Marino and her niece, Lucy, offer expert crime-scene investigation and autopsy services to communities lacking local access to competent death investigation and modern technology.

Bernie says: "Time to end the series"
    "Who wrote this one?"
    Overall

I don't think PC even wrote this one. Even the medical details were wrong. What doctor starts CPR only to stop a minute later? What did the story have to do with the title? There was no mystery to slove, no clues left laying around, all details of the murders were wraped up in a couple of paragraphs. It was all subplots and didn't have a plot.
I have loved PC's books. They have fueled my interest in forensics, but this one was a waste of my time. I've never given another book a rating this low before.

Former Secret Service agents turned private investigators Sean King and Michelle Maxwell have seen their lives splinter around them. Michelle lies unconscious in a hospital bed after a night of suicidal violence. And Sean is forced to take on a thankless investigation into the murder of a scientist just inside the CIA's razor-wire fence near Williamsburg, Virginia. But they will need to team up again to stop a conspiracy of traitors operating in the shadow of the White House itself.

R.E. Vazquez says: "not Baldacci's best"
    "Not his best"
    Overall

There were no puzzle peices to put together in this one. Things just happened to Sean and Michelle and they reacted. Never learned who shot at Sean in the beginning or why. One 'bad guy' was trusted until that person tried to kill Sean and Sean never suspected anything. They never solved anything or even came up with any theories, just found things or things were explained to them.

Blaze is the story of Clayton Blaisdell, Jr., of the crimes committed against him and the crimes he commits, including his last, the kidnapping of a baby heir worth millions. Blaze has been a slow thinker since childhood, when his father threw him down the stairs and then threw him down again. After escaping an abusive institution for boys when he was a teenager, Blaze hooks up with George, a seasoned criminal who thinks he has all the answers.

As always King/Bachman is able to develop characters in a way that makes me think about them long after the story is over. I really came to like Blaze but don't want to say more here without giving away the ending.
