I really liked this story and the way it was put together. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the mystery and found myself in suspense most of the way through the book. The characters are detailed and entertaining and I love the time travel through the chapters. The only let down is the narraters appalling dialects or 'accents'. She has a lovely story telling voice with a nice tone that is easy to listen to and has the ability to draw you into the story, but her character voices are very inconsistent with dialects that are just plain wrong. The story was good enough to hold me till the end though and it was overall an enjoyable listen! :-)

Ryder is the hardest Montgomery brother to figure out - with a tough-as-nails outside and possibly nothing too soft underneath. He’s surly and unsociable, but when he straps on a tool belt, no woman can resist his sexy swagger. Except, apparently, Hope Beaumont, the innkeeper of his own Inn BoonsBoro.... As the former manager of a D.C. hotel, Hope is used to excitement and glamour, but that doesn’t mean she can’t appreciate the joys of small-town living. She’s where she wants to be - except for in her love life....

This was the book to tie everything together. I love the way Nora Roberts connects her books through the characters and I love learning new things about each character with every new point of view. This was a lovely end to the series, sufficiently enticing me to move to a tiny town and open an inn. Aaannd perhaps find my own Montgomery brother.....Excuse me while I go pack my bags.

The historic hotel in Boonsboro has endured war and peace, the changing of hands, and even rumored hauntings. Now it’s getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett’s social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. But there’s another project he’s got his eye on: the girl he’s been waiting to kiss since he was sixteen.

This is my FAVOURITE Nora Roberts book so far. Her characters in this one are so sweet/sexy/funny that I just can't get enough! The interactions and conversations between family members had me giggling the day away and completely getting lost in their individual and combined stories. The narrator did an AMAZING job with his perfectly clear character voices and super comic timing. I felt like I was in the middle of all the drama and knew exactly who was who at all times. I laughed, I cried, I held my breath in suspense and sighed wistfully all the way through. LOVED IT!

I love Nora Roberts and her characters. This story is another great one with interesting backstories and touching relationships. I'm a little picky when it comes to narrators and this one I found difficult to listen to base solely on his habit to clunk his teeth! If you can get passed the occasional irritating sound of the narrator loudly closing his mouth then it's a great listen!

Would you consider the audio edition of Sarah's Key to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, but i really enjoyed the audio version!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sarah. She was so strong and such a surviver.

    Any additional comments?

This was such a great rendition of a WW2 story. From a unusual point of view and really well tied together between the past and present. I liked the transitions and the narrater did a great job at making the time switch clear with her tone. I found myself so invested in the characters and the story. I'm not one who cries much, but this one was definitely a tear jerker!!

The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

What did you like about this audiobook?

This book held a lot of characters and individual stories. I really liked how they were all linked and came together. It was unpredictable and intriguing!

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

I liked the info on Italy and also old school Hollywood. How things were run back in the day and how the movie stars were viewed. I want to go to Italy!

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

Yes. He uses a wide range of characters and individual stories to convey the required information. It really keeps it interesting while communicating a lot of information.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

I didn't love his female voices, but its got to be tricky for a male narrater!!!

Yes!! It was a great listen. The characters were interesting and the story traveled well. It really held my attention and I found myself thinking about the story when I wasn't listening. I couldn't wait to see what happened!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bruce. I would love a friend like him :-)

What about Julia Whelan’s performance did you like?

Her voices were so clear!! She had very distinct characters and the voices really helped paint the picture. They also were incredibly consistent. Her accents were very good if not spot on and her acting ability really showed in the emotion in the dialogue.

Startling, unusual, and yet irresistably readable, Among Others is at once the compelling story of a young woman struggling to escape a troubled childhood, a brilliant diary of first encounters with the great novels of modern fantasy and SF, and a spellbinding tale of escape from ancient enchantment.

I was torn with this one just because i found the story rather depressing. It was really sad and didn't have enough 'up' moments for my personal taste. In saying that the story is very well written and the narration is fantastic. I loved the depth of the characters and the narraters accent choices for each one were perfect.
