Where does Bleed for Me rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really enjoyed this one. Usually it takes me a good hour to get into a book, but this one had me hooked from start to finish. I was able to get completely lost and felt like i was watching a movie! Intriguing story and very realistic, suitable narration.

Would you consider the audio edition of Sarah's Key to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, but i really enjoyed the audio version!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sarah. She was so strong and such a surviver.

    Any additional comments?

This was such a great rendition of a WW2 story. From a unusual point of view and really well tied together between the past and present. I liked the transitions and the narrater did a great job at making the time switch clear with her tone. I found myself so invested in the characters and the story. I'm not one who cries much, but this one was definitely a tear jerker!!

The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

What did you like about this audiobook?

This book held a lot of characters and individual stories. I really liked how they were all linked and came together. It was unpredictable and intriguing!

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

I liked the info on Italy and also old school Hollywood. How things were run back in the day and how the movie stars were viewed. I want to go to Italy!

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

Yes. He uses a wide range of characters and individual stories to convey the required information. It really keeps it interesting while communicating a lot of information.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

I didn't love his female voices, but its got to be tricky for a male narrater!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes!! It was a great listen. The characters were interesting and the story traveled well. It really held my attention and I found myself thinking about the story when I wasn't listening. I couldn't wait to see what happened!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bruce. I would love a friend like him :-)

What about Julia Whelan’s performance did you like?

Her voices were so clear!! She had very distinct characters and the voices really helped paint the picture. They also were incredibly consistent. Her accents were very good if not spot on and her acting ability really showed in the emotion in the dialogue.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

I didn't want it to end!

What did you love best about The Wise Man's Fear?

This book stirred so many emotions i don't know where to begin. The author paints such a perfect picture with his words it was like i was watching a movie. I laughed, I cried (a lot!), felt triumph and pride for the character. A wonderful story of a boys rise from nothing to everything.

Startling, unusual, and yet irresistably readable, Among Others is at once the compelling story of a young woman struggling to escape a troubled childhood, a brilliant diary of first encounters with the great novels of modern fantasy and SF, and a spellbinding tale of escape from ancient enchantment.

I was torn with this one just because i found the story rather depressing. It was really sad and didn't have enough 'up' moments for my personal taste. In saying that the story is very well written and the narration is fantastic. I loved the depth of the characters and the narraters accent choices for each one were perfect.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I found this book to be completely far fetched as far as character emotions go. Even in a fantasy i like to think that the characters reactions can be somewhat believable. There were A LOT of sex scenes and i ended up skipping the ones near the end. A good listen if sex is what you're looking for. It was a bit too much for me.
