That's what I kept thinking as I listened to this book. I read the whole series hoping it would get better. It dragged on in its narrative and never lingered in my mind like others I've read. The characters were poorly developed and very difficult to connect to. I kept hoping someone would review this too, but I'm the first. I hesitated writing a review, but I want to save you from even considering Whitlow's Santee Series!

On a winter night in 1964, Dr. David Henry is forced by a blizzard to deliver his own twins. His son, born first, is perfectly healthy. Yet when his daughter is born, he sees immediately that she has Down's Syndrome. Rationalizing it as a need to protect Norah, his wife, he makes a split-second decision that will alter all of their lives forever. He asks his nurse to take the baby away to an institution and never to reveal the secret.

    "Hated it!"

So happy to finally be downloading my next book. I listed to the Unabrided version of this book- every painful, uninteresting, and unneeded word. The author needs to invest in a thesaurus! If I heard the word PALE on more time I was gonna scream. There were plots that never came to any point. She would break some major event in the book, but dilute it with useless flashbacks forcing the reader to drift once again and miss the crux of the story. Don't bother. My 6th grader could write better.
