"This greatly improved my Spanish communication."
This really worked for me. I used it to brush up on Spanish before traveling to Central America. I had studied Spanish in school but never felt comfortable speaking. It seemed overly simple. However I followed the directions exactly. I was shocked at how effective it was. I had the confidence to speak in situations that would have caused me to grapple for words in the past. Successive units quickly add terms and expressions but the pace is amazingly manageable.
"painfully cheezy"
Imagine a really bad musical performed by 3 actors from children's programming with a very low quality synthesizer. Most of them made me laugh, but some of the lessons made me cringe. My partner banned it from playing within earshot in the first 3 minutes. I gave it a chance. I think it was helpful, but it was an unpleasant experience.
"This book has all my friends laughing and talking!"
It didn't tell me a whole lot I didn't already know, but said it in such an entertaining way that I would rather have heard it from Al Franken anyway. This book owes much to previous work done by other authors and journalists. I think it could even be quoting Eric Alterman's slightly earlier book "What Liberal Media" on many occasions (an excellent no-nonsense book). I really loved the results, and I play bits for other people every chance I get. Don't deprive yourself of this one!
"Moore's best work so far."
I found this book more articulate and informative than Stupid White Men, and not very bitter at all considering how consistently the Bush Administration, and most of the rest of our elected officials have let us down on nearly every issue since 2000. Actually he sounds a lot more positive than the majority of current events books lately. The first chapter had me laughing out loud.
My only compliant is that Michael Moore does not narrate his audio books and is a better comic speaker than those who disappointingly did the audio versions of his last two books, they are better off in print. I saw him live last month, and believe me, it is funnier coming from him.
If you can't understand his perspective try reading The Best Democracy Money Can Buy (new American Edition), Bushwhacked!, and Toxic Sludge is Good For You, these are a little more serious and will enrage you, then read Pigs at the Trough, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, and Dude Where's My Country over again-Funny and uplifting!
