  • An Inconvenient Book: Real Solutions to the World's Biggest Problems (Unabridged)

    Story

The world is a mess. It seems that everywhere listeners turn, there's another problem. What is needed now are solutions. If only there was a man who could simplify things, cut through the rhetoric, and fix everything. Then, if he was just able to put all of that insight into something that people could buy...in a store and online...man, that would great. Wait a minute!

Sheila says: "Funny & Thought Provoking"
    "very entertaining"
    Overall

I like it when an author reads his own book. Glenn Beck is very entertaining and makes you look at things in a different light. Since I am not much on reading or listening to non-fiction books I enjoyed this one very much. You don't have to agree with him on the political front to enjoy this book.

  • Going Rogue: An American Life

    Performance
    (165)
    Story
    (168)

In this eagerly anticipated memoir, Palin paints an intimate portrait of growing up in the wilds of Alaska; meeting her lifelong love; her decision to enter politics; the importance of faith and family; and the unique joys and trials of life as a high-profile working mother. She also opens up for the first time about the 2008 presidential race, providing a rare, mom's-eye view of high-stakes national politics - from patriots dedicated to "Country First" to slick politicos bent on winning at any cost.

Mike & Jan Geihsler says: "Needed unabridged"
    "Great non-fiction book"
    Overall

I listened to this book and I loved the fact that Sarah Palin narrated it herself. It is a real eye opener about today's politics. It makes you wonder what would have happened to the election if "headquarters" let Sarah Palin be herself. The only negative thing about this book is that audible didn't have the unabridged edition. I borrowed the book to look at the photos and to read the parts that were left out. Still loved it. Sarah Palin's enthusiasm it so inspiring. This is a must read/listen to book no matter what your beliefs are!

The powerful debut novel from New York Times best-selling author Jodi Picoult, Songs of the Humpback Whale is a moving story of love and family told through the eyes of five people: Jane Jones, her daughter Rebecca, and three very different men in their lives. After a watershed moment in their marriage, Jane leaves Oliver, her renowned marine biologist husband, and begins a journey across the country with Rebecca in search of understanding about her troubled past.

    Overall

I had been waiting for this to come out on an audio book. I have read/listened to all of Jodi Picoults books. This is her first one. I have to say it isn't her best but for a first it is very good. An interesting portrayal of when you become your mom or dad and you didn't want to. A journey many of us wish we could take and don't.

But it couldn't have been Jennifer. She died 12 years ago....

I almost didn't get this book because of some of the negative reviews. I read Lost Souls and thought this book sounded like a great spin off. Then I bought it and I am glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews. If you think the author told you all the details about the characters in Lost Souls you are in for some surprises. I really liked this book. You also don't have to have read Lost Souls to read this book.

When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn't have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave - "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" - wasn't about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because "time is all you have... and you may find one day that you have less than you think").

When he receives a letter from Boone Creek, North Carolina, about ghostly lights appearing in a cemetery, he can't resist driving down to investigate. Here, in this tightly knit community, Lexie Darnell runs the town's library. Disappointed by past relationships, she is sure of one thing: her future is in Boone Creek, close to all the people she loves.
