"Awesome characters, good storyline."
It's in the Top 10, I'd say. Griffin is among my favorite authors for his in depth character writing. The historical writing is fascinating for those who want a better understanding of WWII. Complex and multiple storylines keep the series from getting stale.
Craig is my favorite, he's evolved from an uptight spoiled brat to someone you root for.
I have started listening to 3 different Griffin series now. One word of caution- "series" is accurate. Don't expect to read one book and have everything neatly tied up at the end. It's comparable to watching one episode of a miniseries. It seems they are taking their time to release the rest of the books of the series, even though they were written 20 years ago. When I'm wrapped up in a series, I don't really care to jump around to other writers and constantly check if a new book has come out.
"Hope they re-record"
Mostly preparation stories
Yes and no. It is another of Griffin's fill-in-the-black books, it seems to me. As always, I enjoy learning about the further development of the characters, but the suspense was a little lacking.
Pretty dang good.
It became apparent how much Dick Hill contributes to the storytelling. He is one of my favorite. However, this one was recorded in '96, and almost all of the character voices are different. This changes perception of the character- most of the time for the worse. I would purchase a new version if it became available. Other than that, Dick is awesome!
"Wheels have started to wobble"
I enjoy hearing the progression of the characters. I felt like this book was mostly just filler to segue from one story to another. I am hoping the next has more action and character development than this one, or I will be done with the series.
This one is the worst of the series so far. The first ones were great, but this one was pretty boring.
I hope so. This one didn't develop anything earth-shattering.
"Better than I expected."
Even though it is fiction, it brings a perspective into the lives of those whom we take for granted every day.
It wasn't a nail biter, but I enjoyed listening when I could.
I found the dialogue to be a little campy. The action was good, the storyline was solid, but the characters were a little weak. Even heroes aren't perfect, and the main characters were presented as saints.
"Addicting"
This was easily the best book I've come in contact with. I was sad when it ended, wishing for a few more hours. I'm sure my wife is glad it's over, as I couldn't help but sit and listen for hours every night. I certainly hope it doesn't take another 30 years for Lt. Marlantes to write another, I'll be waiting in line if he does.
