A lot of action and a great story. I think I might have done some things differently. But still a fast, action packed story. Can't wait to start the next story.
Just finished listening to Dr. Zimm. I enjoyed it. When someone talks about “Zombie” stories though, I immediately think of the movie “Night of the Living Dead”. Dumb movie. (Sorry, zombie lovers) People buried six feet under for 100 years don’t just climb out of their graves as cannibals for no apparent reason. If you’re going to give me a story, make it plausible. Have the characters act in a manner I can relate to. With this in mind, I would not classify Dr. Zimm ad a “Zombie” story. Given the “science” in the story, the results made sense. I liked the characters, They acted in a reasonable manner. It was a good story, it kept moving and you wanted to know what was going to happen next. All in all, it was fun.
The story moves along at a good pace. There's some action. There's some scheming. And some mystery with a little humor mixed in. It kept you trying to figure out what was going to happen next. I don't want to give away the story, so let's just say "If you play chess and like your action stories, you'll like this book." Also, there's no profanity in this story. It usually never adds anything to the story and I liked the fact I didn't have to wade through it in this book.
This is the most recent in a series of six books. The whole series is packed with action and adventure. Our main hero takes on villains from all sides. Throw in a few characters you're not sure how to classify and you have a real roller coaster ride through space. Start with Swarm, the first book, and you'll be hooked.
One Jump Ahead is the first book in an awesome series. It's got the best AI ship I've ever read about. It's fast paced and it's fun. You'll love Lobo. I just finished the latest release, No Going Back, and can't wait for the next book to come out. If you like science fiction you won't want to miss this series.
This is the first book in an awesome series. It is fast paced hard core science fiction at it's best. I just finished the latest release, Battle Station, and can't wait for the next book to come out. If you like science fiction you won't want to miss this series.
The first book, The Sword, was good. You liked the characters and the story kept moving. But this story is just too predictable. It moves much slower than the first book. I actually gave up before I even got to part 2.
If you can get past the reader, it might have been a good story. It sounds like someone tried to have a computer read the book. Each word is so precisely enunciated, not like a person telling you a story. Consequently the flow of the story is all chopped up. I also didn't like the use of "Oh God" and "Oh Jesus" every other sentence. It was disrespectful and totally unnecessary. I stopped listening after the first half hour. Don't waste your credits on this one.
The story has a good premis and the reader does a fair job. But it is extreemly obvious that the author was paid by the word for this story. He repeats the same things over and over and over and over again. I fast forwarded for several minutes, multiple times, and did not miss the story line. This is one story where the abridged version would have been better.
Woddy Allen would love this book. The main character babbles incessantly. He whines about everything throughout the entire book. It is extreemly obvious that the author was being paid by the word on this book. If you're having a hard time sleeping, this is the book for you. There's no way I can imaging why it received so many awards. It's tops on my "Stinker" list.
