Diane Keaton has spent a lifetime coloring outside the lines of the conventional notion of beauty. In Let’s Just Say It Wasn’t Pretty, she shares the wisdom she’s accumulated through the years as a mother, daughter, actress, artist, and international style icon. This is a book only Diane Keaton could write - a smart and funny chronicle of the ups and downs of living and working in a world obsessed with beauty.

Would you try another book from Diane Keaton and/or Diane Keaton?

Yes but I'd have to read more ABOUT it before I bought it. I thought she was famous for her Hollywood revelations. I didn't get much of that in this book.

Has Let's Just Say It Wasn't Pretty turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. I just need to get better about PREVIEWING books before I buy. This is one of a few that was not at all what I had expected. As a result, it is another of a few that I can't get through.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I can't even recall. I feel I struggled with the book more that I enjoyed it. I kept waiting for the dirt on Hollywood but I don't recall getting any of that. Did I give up too soon?

Could you see Let's Just Say It Wasn't Pretty being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Not by what I've read so far. She's very repetitive over unnecessary topics.

    Any additional comments?

    Another disappointing book. :(

Following up the phenomenal success of her headline-making New York Times bestseller I Hate Everyone...Starting With Me, the unstoppable Joan Rivers is at it again. When her daughter Melissa gives her a diary for Christmas, at first Joan is horrified—who the hell does Melissa think she is? That fat pig, Bridget Jones? But as Joan, being both beautiful and introspective, begins to record her day-to-day musings, she realizes she has a lot to say. About everything. And everyone, God help them..

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Sometimes yes - it was very funny and I laughed aloud all by myself.Other times no - some of her comments/jokes were grade school-ish and didn't make me even smile, much less laugh.

Would you recommend Diary of a Mad Diva to your friends? Why or why not?

Not really. I'm a Joan fan and I know she goes over the top and against what is "proper", which is what I usually love about her. But this book disappointed me more than entertained me.

How could the performance have been better?

This is who Joan is. She's the original "shock" female comic which I admire her for, but sometimes things she says in this particular book come off as trying too hard to be funny or shocking but they fall flat.

Could you see Diary of a Mad Diva being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

If it were made in to a movie I wouldn't go see it. This book was boring enough that I can't even finish it. I've struggled to get as far as I have but I think I'm giving up. I'm sure she'd have a plethora of snarky things to say about that. :)

    Any additional comments?

I have a lot of respect and admiration for Joan Rivers. I love her on Fashion Police, I love that she walked out on that reporter, I am truly a fan. This book just didn't do it for me.

On June 5, 2002, 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart, the daughter of a close-knit Mormon family, was taken from her home in the middle of the night by religious fanatic, Brian David Mitchell and his wife, Wanda Barzee. She was kept chained, dressed in disguise, repeatedly raped, and told she and her family would be killed if she tried to escape. After her rescue on March 12, 2003, she rejoined her family and worked to pick up the pieces of her life.

What made the experience of listening to My Story the most enjoyable?

The strength this little girl had.

What did you like best about this story?

She was detailed without being graphic. It was fascinating to learn the horror she went though and, more importantly, the beautiful life she came home to and continues to live.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Same as my headline "Despicable adults, amazing child"

    Any additional comments?

I hope her story, especially the close calls where she COULD have been rescued sooner, will change US laws. If an officer of the law has reason to believe a veiled person is undercover as a means to hide their identity, we need to have laws that allow this situation to overrule any religious belief about someone remaining covered up. With respect to all faiths, I would hope that even in those religions which insist on veiled women and girls, they too would want police to be able to look at the female if THEIR loved one were in Elizabeth's situation.

After writing his acclaimed debut effort, Lowe felt he had more stories to share and many more friends to introduce. The result is a touching memoir about the business and craft of acting, the pitfalls of success, family, love, and much more.

If you could sum up Love Life in three words, what would they be?

    Honest Insightful Entertaining

What was one of the most memorable moments of Love Life?

Aside from the below, I appreciate how he describes script readers. My sister writes scripts and currently has a few of her scripts being reviewed with "Hollywood people". Based on her experience, I do believe Rob is right on with this subject.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The camping story with Big Foot. I was working out at the gym and I literally laughed out loud through almost the whole chapter.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Many emotions. I laughed out loud at Big Foot, got emotional as he talks about the love and respect he has for his wife of over 22 years, respect his honesty about his sobriety, and admire the father he is to his boys. In both of his books I am so happy to see that he has turned in to such a well rounded loving caring man.

    Any additional comments?

I couldn't wait to hear the whole thing, yet I did not want this book to end. Rob narrates his story as beautifully as he writes it.

Finally, learning that his son John Owen wrote the music for the book gave me one last huge sigh of admiration.

    Great Job Rob!!

Philosopher, Broadway headliner, fighter, felon - Mike Tyson has defied stereotypes, expectations, and a lot of conventional wisdom during his three decades in the public eye. Bullied as a boy in the toughest, poorest neighborhood in Brooklyn, Tyson grew up to become one of the most thrilling and ferocious boxers of all time - and the youngest heavyweight champion ever. But his brilliance in the ring was often compromised by reckless behavior.

One of my top 10 celebrity memoirs

What was one of the most memorable moments of Undisputed Truth?

The tragedy of his little girl Exodus

What about Joshua Henry’s performance did you like?

I often forgot it was a narrator rather than Mike himself. Although Mike is parodied for his "different" voice, I felt it was actually Mike telling his own story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Learning that he finally (hopefully) has turned his life around.

    Any additional comments?

I got exhausted hearing about all that highs and lows Mike has been thru - many by his own doing, some not. I can't imagine LIVING that life. There was nothing about his life I would want to personally experience. I really appreciated hearing the good AND the bad. I was never a Mike Tyson fan, but I am now a supporter. I never believed he was guilty of rape with Ms Washington. After his book I am confident he didn't rape anyone, ever. I hope he has finally learned that most of these women want him for what he can give materialistically, nothing more. I wish him nothing but the best.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was fine to entertain as I did housecleaning
Being it was short, it was as if I were sitting chatting with friend about his experience.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Nothing. I'm not a "Change the story" kind of person. If I wanted to do that, I'd write my own story. :)

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Nothing. It was fine. The only reason it has a 3 rating is because it was just a fun little chat with not a bunch of substance. Not a bad thing, it's just that I knew what I was getting when I bought it.

What else would you have wanted to know about Mishka Shubaly’s life?

Anything else he was willing to tell. Again, it was his story to tell, not mine to change.

    Any additional comments?

If you want to have a fun chat with a guy friend and you don't have one handy, this book will suffice as a good fill in.

His Mom, sister, and Adrienne. Amazing women.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When he and the young guy were pulled over by cops and left to spend the night in the car. The way Artie tells that scene, I could almost see it as if I were there. Hysterical.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it was hard to put down because I could hardly wait to hear what happened next. I was rooting for him at every chapter.

    Any additional comments?

These celebrity "train wreck to sobriety" stories never cease to amaze me. The depths of what people do for drugs is beyond my comprehension. I have two glasses of wine and I worry about dumb things I may have done. I cannot imagine what they live through, by their own admission, by their own choices. It's always great to learn they've beat the demons.

Billy Crystal is 65, and he's not happy about it. With his trademark wit and heart, he outlines the absurdities and challenges that come with growing old, from insomnia to memory loss to leaving dinners with half your meal on your shirt. In humorous chapters like ""Buying the Plot"" and ""Nodding Off,"" Crystal not only catalogues his physical gripes, but offers a road map to his 77 million fellow baby boomers who are arriving at this milestone age with him. He also looks back at the most powerful and memorable moments of his long and storied life, from entertaining his relatives as a kid in Long Beach, Long Island, and his years doing stand-up in the Village, up through his legendary stint at Saturday Night Live, When Harry Met Sally, and his long run as host of the Academy Awards. Listeners get a front-row seat to his one-day career with the New York Yankees (he was the first player to ever ""test positive for Maalox""), his love affair with Sophia Loren, and his enduring friendships with several of his idols, including Mickey Mantle and Muhammad Ali. He lends a light touch to more serious topics like religion (""the aging friends I know have turned to the Holy Trinity: Advil, bourbon, and Prozac""); grandparenting; and, of course, dentistry. As wise and poignant as they are funny, Crystal's reflections are an unforgettable look at an extraordinary life well lived.

Quinton's wife's commitment to her friend Belinda, even though they had a little estrangement prior to the murder.

Did Coleen Marlo do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

It was fine. Although I realize it is part of storytelling, I don't care for women trying to sound like a man.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It disgusted me at some points simply for the way sport stars in high school, college, and even pros think they are above the law. Also, I am troubled by the fact of who is now raising Ethan. I was really surprised at that.

While a tragic story, it is a good book.
