"Hoda Hits it Out of the Park!"
Inspiration and Admiration
None that I've read so far
All scenes are equally fascinating and or enlightening
The whole thing kept me interested and wanting more.
I always wonder what happens to people we hear about on TV shows, in the news, etc. FINALLY a book that brings us up to date with amazing people from different walks of life.
"More Hollywood Behinds the Scenes"
Same place as most celebrity memoirs. Fun to listen to.
Debbie seems like such a spunky woman with a great sense of humor. I also love Todd for having been there for her through everything.
This was the first one.
What happened behind the scenes of one of the longest running "America's Sweethearts".
Ya gotta love Debbie Reynolds. A trooper, a survivor, an eternal optimist. And cute as a button even at 80 years old!
"In the beginning, no one knew him better than Cyn."
It was factual and very respectful of a man which most anyone from the 60s loved and admired.
None that I've read till now.
Audible books read by someone with an accent normally distracts me from the story. However, being this was about one of the most famous English people I'm familiar with, her accent kept me in the moment the entire book.
Every John Lennon lover's must see.
It is quite obvious to me how much Cynthia loved John before he became "The Beatles' John Lennon" and beyond.
Julian's forward was very touching.
No surprise about Yoko.
The whole book felt to me like it was written with love.
"Fun, Informative Read"
Yes - I already have. Anyone who has worked in the industry or eats out will enjoy this book.
When the writer's girlfriend was stiffed by two girls (who turn out to be servers themselves!) and how she reacts to it. We've all been there!
Many - but what stands out right now was the rich man with the cheap hooker.
No guffaws or tears on this one, it was just an easy enjoyable read. Very similar to Heads in Beds.
I appreciate some of the things I learned from this book.
Also, I relived some of my own experiences both as a former server MANY years ago, and as a co-customer with some of the arrogant people he writes about. I've been embarrassed by some of my dining partners in my years. It's funny to hear a server's perspective.
"Beautifully told story of dysfunction"
I always like a success story. So many people have grown up in dysfunction, and it is inspirational to hear of people who survive and thrive whatever craziness they have been through.
Dominca's cadence and the way she delivers her story, with humor and believability.
The story is told so matter of fact. She doesn't whine or "woe is me". She doesn't present herself as a victim, she just shares her story...and what a story!
Yes, if I could have, I would have.
I'm very impressed with this woman. The only thing that puzzles me is how she ever felt herself unattractive. I looked up her picture on line - she is gorgeous!
"What really happened to the Japanese in America"
No - I think she did a good job of presenting an important part of history.
NA
As with any Audible book, I feel HEARING the story brings more feeling to it than reading it.
I feel she did an excellent job of bringing her story full circle.
This is a story that many may NOT want to hear about, but we should. I'm always amazed that this type of thing, as with segregation, occurred in MY lifetime. It saddens me to think that people can treat people who are "different" as they have been treated. God bless Jeanne and her family and other Japanese who went through this.
"Touching and Enjoyable"
Learning about the special relationship Carrie and Carol had.
none
Her recollections of tender moments, funny moments, and troubled times. My favorite was hearing about the fiasco with the taxi when she was late in her pregnancy.
A celebrity's account of what could be any mother's story.
Something so unique to Audible books...I loved HEARING Carrie's song rather than just seeing in on a page.
"A Traveler's MUST READ"
Yes - it is funny and informative
None - it's in a class by itself!
His tone and his sarcasm which makes it even better.
If you've ever stayed in a hotel, you MUST see this.
Great book. Not only is it funny and entertaining, it is informative and educational. A must read for travelers.
"Can Betty Be My Gramma?"
Upper middle. It was just a fun easy listening book.
Sure. Who doesn't love Betty White? And who doesn't love hearing stories from our more seasoned citizens!
No
Her love for Allen Ludden is very touching, but I replayed the chapter about Coco over and over, getting emotional each time. I've repeated the story to many friends. Her love of animals is wonderful. I wish I were in her position so I could experience some of her animal encounters.
Betty White is someone all of us can learn something from and enjoy spending time with...even if it's only through an audiobook.
"Fascinating Man and Life"
First I'm a fan of Anderson. This book just made me more so. He leads a fascinating life and thru this book you see how humble he remains. He has seen and been thru so many things and I love how effortlessly and honestly he shares those experiences.
Closest would be Killing Kennedy by O'Reilly. I enjoy both of their factual, simple delivery.
No. If he has more for me to read - please advise!
Probably the same as my review Headline...Fascinating Man, Fascinating Life
I couldn't stop listening when he talks of Katrina. The way he approaches situations and how he shares his facts is so compelling.
"Great title, confusing listen"
I think something may have been wrong with it. It listed only 3 chapters on my ipod but it went on to 4 then 5 then jumped up to the teens and went from 13 to 15 then 18 or something like that. I didn't mind missing that much because it was a hard listen anyway.
I loved Davy Jones (and was saddened when he passed away) but through this book I felt his storytelling fell short. He would have a big lead up to a situation or memory, then it just drops off and next thing you know there's a silence and a new chapter.
I think he was okay. I think my issue is more with the STORY than his narrating.
I liked the end when he talks about each Monkee.
Just disappointing and I had such high hopes.
