  • Maggie: A Girl of the Streets and Other New York Stories

Although his most famous work, The Red Badge of Courage, was created almost entirely from his imagination, Stephen Crane didn't hesitate to seek out life's most demanding lessons for himself. During his lifetime, he was exposed to poverty, hopelessness, violence, shipwrecks, and countless other tragedies. The 4 short stories in this collection, "An Experiment in Misery," "The Reluctant Voyagers," "A Desertion," and "Maggie: A Girl of the Streets," show Crane's skillful prose, rich imagery, and deft exposure of the human condition, including a vivid picture of life in New York City at the turn of the century.

"The Main Story is at the End"
    Overall

Another reviewer wrote that it was hard to find the story Maggie. The audiobook is separated in four chapters. The fourth chapter is where the Maggie story begins.

I do agree that the audio quality leaves much to be desired.
