After listening to The Woman In White, I was anxious to see if this could meet that standard. I enjoyed this story even more. The characters in The Moonstone were more "real" to me. Even though there were two very minor blips in the editing of the narration, the narration itself was excellent. I gave a lot of thought in this selection since there are several editions of this book and was never disappointed in David Thorn's performance. If you like mysteries, I would highly recommend this selection.
Although it took me some re-listening to get with story, I am so glad I stuck it out. Some people can just write, and this man has a great talent. Looking forward to the nine left for me to listen to.
Everything about this book is wonderful, and I hated for it to end. Narration is plus, plus, plus. I'm from the South and sounds like a neighbor talking. I have read and enjoyed two of Mr. McCammon's mysteries and absolutely was shocked with this one. I think he could write an interesting book on grass growing, paint drying.
I never expected to be so overwhelmed. I loved everything about this book. I will not be forgetting the title, the plot, or the characters anytime soon! If you like wilderness stories, do not miss this.
The characters are unique, interesting and likeable. The mystery is in the development of the story which I really appreciate. Have loved every single book!
Interesting storyline about teenagers coming to term with life and just how far parents should go to protect them. Really liked the main characters and the realistic emotions faced by them and their families.
Absolutely loved this story. The characters are fun, loyal, outrageous and endearing. I will definitely want more of this series.
The story is up to Nesbo's standards, but the narrator keeps getting in the way. I was hoping I could adjust, and I did, but definitely detracted from my enjoyment.
This should be the guide for great storytelling novels! Understandable that this was the basis for Tarzan and Indiana Jones. Absorbing from first sentence to last and action aplenty!
Maybe it's because the previous books were so outstanding, but for whatever the reason, I was really disappointed in Book 5 of the series. I was expecting the usual instant connection with storyline and characters only to wait, wait and wait, and it never happened.
Time and again I was tempted to just stop listening, but persisted thinking surely the magic would happen, but it did not. Hope the next book is back to the usual standards.
Huge thank you to Audible to for bringing this novel to my attention. Like many of my generation, I read On The Beach in high school in the early 60's and was very familiar with the name "Nevil Shute" but was unaware of the other novels he wrote. I check the Daily Deals everyday and what a prize I picked with this one. Based on enjoyment, it is the best value I have ever received from Audible. Robin Bailey's narration was perfect for me. From the first word, I was hooked. It was as if we were old friends, and he was telling this story just to me. Enjoyed every second and hated to see it end. One of the few books that I will definitely listen to again.
