Mr. Hart definitely knows how to write a good story! Hooray for all us mystery lovers. Terrific plot, fully defined characters (some to like, some to love, and some to hate) and enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. When I find myself exclaiming "Oh, no!" or some such during the narration, I am really hooked. The main character, while flawed, was engaging and very likeable. I found myself smiling with him, dismayed when he stumbled and in the end, hated to say goodbye.
My narration standards are high. There are many books I would love to get, but I refuse to listen to what I consider a bad narrator more than once. David Chandler definitely goes on my "approved" list. I am from NC and appreciate David Chandler for not having a southern accent. The temptation for many narrators is to go over the top with the drawl, and it truly grates on my southern born and bred ears. The reading speed was excellent, and his voice is pleasant to hear. The narration never interfered with the story which, in my opinion, is the point. No regrets in using this credit!
First book by author and the narration was awful! The story may have been good, but the narration was so irritating I just couldn't get past it.
Characters in this series are very likeable. The plots are just involved enough to maintain interest and solution not easily solved. Very believable.
The only negative with this book is the fact that it is the last Tana French available. Please, let there be more. I thoroughly enjoyed each book in this series and really could not pick a favorite.
This is my 3rd Tana French novel and they get better and better. Really get caught up with the characters and the action. Great story!
First Tana French book for me and really glad I have discovered her. Hope her other books are as absorbing as this one. Hooked from the beginning.
The characters are wonderful, the crimes mystifying, the narration great! What more could we ask for?
New twist on old plot; really good at bringing characters to life; too much repetition for my tastes (necessary for tv show?) I listen or read to just about anything so was not shocked by any of the grislier events but definitely not PG. Guessed ending pretty early on. Would love to see more mysteries on tv so will watch this.
Some of the stories I really enjoyed, some I couldn't wait to finish, and others I didn't bother waiting until the end. All the narrations were excellent.
I thought I could listen to and enjoy almost anything, but the long, endless descriptions of engineering problems of fictional outer space travel almost brought me to my knees! Narrator did a terrific job of what had to be just as boring to narrate. Not the worst but definitely do not recommend.
This is my fourth Walt Longmire and fighting for first place. Narration is perfect.
