I am not sure I am going to be able to finish this one. This narration is the worst I have ever heard. Normally I sample the book before buying and downloading but for some reason I did not with this.

I can't get a handle on the story for the poor narration.

Needless to say I wish I had not purchased this book.

It was good to reconnect with some of the characters from her previous novel. One of my favorite characters is the main characters father Leo who is very dedicated, retired police officer who loves his daughter and grandson. Things took a turn that I did not expect as far "who done it" because there were many possible characters who were involved. I especially like Jan Maxwell as a narrator. This was a good entertaining book.

I will preface this review with mentioning the author is not my favorite, having made that statement I will say that this one took some getting use to and making myself read it and not abandon early on. If you don't know anything about elephants you will after listening to this book. The characters were complex and they spoke in first person which was fine until they spoke of other characters and the narration did not follow the characters. Minor detail though. If you are a mother you will definitely relate to certain situations. Overall the biggest surprise was the last few chapters. I did not anticipate the ending at all. Came from out of nowhere!

Even though I am not one to read every book by this author what kept me from giving the review 5 stars was the vulgar language that served no purpose to the story. The same could have been said and conveyed without it.

Take a chance and enjoy if you can tolerate the F bombs and other vulgar language.

I can't bring myself to finish this one - second recent John Grisham audiobook that I simply can't tolerate the narrator. The inflections in the voice are terrible and he is not versatile enough to change characters. The author has done some great works in the past - this one being an older thankfully their is a better narrator on board now.

I will be returning this one.

I am at chapter 7 and will be baling on this one. I simply can't finish it. The narration is the worst I have ever heard to the point that I have no desire to even read the book. I normally like the author and for all I know and will never find out this may be a decent book.

Based on the few chapters I endured the main character is using greed to punish his family upon his death. The lawyer with substance abuse problems sent to Brazil to find his illegitimate daughter is more of a loser than the deceased family.

I have listened to two of the authors recent books and that narrator was great.

    Save your money.....

I picked this as a filler while waiting for some new releases. This was well done and had plenty of twists and turns that I did not foresee. The characters were strong Adam the grandson and Sam the death row inmate grandfather. Forgiveness for some horrible crimes was the center of this story for me. I especially appreciate the pastoral consultations the inmate received. It was very candid and biblically realistic. The performance was good - I had recently listed to Sycamore Row by the same author and narrator.

I will have to say the ending left me unfulfilled. Maybe I wanted him to do more -- and will leave at that so no spoiler.

I had stopped reading Beverly Lewis as it seemed most of the stories were basically the same with just a different name to the characters. This one is based mostly in the "Englisher" world but there are Amish traits that weigh into the story. The guts of this story takes place in the last half of the second download. I really did not care for this narrator - she does not do male voices well at all - almost to the point of stopping the listen. The ending was okay and good for the characters. Did this keep me enraptured and on the edge of my seat waiting for the next chapter? No.

So me this was "just okay".

I am for the most part a big David Baldacci fan. I think the synopsis doesn't convey the real content of this book. Some of it was focused on North Korean prison camps with some graphic disturbing scenes. I wasn't prepared for this and there was more vulgar language than necessary. These prison camps don't treat females well and this was hard to listen to. Once that portion was over and the focus went to Will Robey and Jessica Riehl it was more like what I am use to with previous David Baldacci books. Most of the real action took place in the last 25% of the book and it will suffice to say the end surprised me greatly. I won't say more without being a spoiler.

Chelsea Adams has visions. But they have no place in a courtroom. As a juror for a murder trial, Chelsea must rely only on the evidence. And this circumstantial evidence is strong - Darren Welk killed his wife.Or did he? The trial is a nightmare for Chelsea. The other jurors belittle her Christian faith. As testimony unfolds, truth and secrets blur. Chelsea's visiting niece stumbles into peril surrounding the case, and Chelsea cannot protect her. God sends visions - frightening, vivid. But what do they mean? Even as Chelsea finds out, what can she do?

This story was difficult to finish - but I am stubborn enough to not waste my money. There was a lot of back and forth in this story line and at times hard to follow which character was being focused on. The main character who has visions from God was weak in my opinion. I think the reason I pursued and finished was I liked the idea of using our relationship with God to know which direction to move in life. The underdog was the teen couple and the story of their daughter. So without being a spoiler I will just say if you start it - hunker down to finish it.

The murder was ugly. The killer was sure no one saw him.Someone did. In a horrifying vision, Chelsea Adams has relived the victim's last moments. But who will believe her? Certainly not the police, who must rely on hard evidence. Nor her husband, who barely tolerates Chelsea's newfound Christian faith. Besides, he's about to hire the man who Chelsea is certain is the killer to be a vice president in his company.

This was a good story based on a strong lead character who is a staunch Christian. This plays a pivotal role in many aspects of the story. For once it was a story that did not have such a happy ending. Now the narrator is another story. If I was not so interested in the outcome of the story I would have bailed. She can not do the multiple gender narration at all.

If you can get past the narration you will enjoy the listen.

This was a slow go for me - I would say I was a good 50% thru the listen before it really captured me. The dynamics of the characters who lived in Harper house were really good. I especially like Stella and her unexpected beau. The ghost was interesting and without being a spoiler I will say I was disappointed and felt like I was left hanging with the ending. I guess I will have to continue to read the series.

Sidebar - I wish these talented writers would understand they can still have successful careers without using the unnecessary vulgar language. That is why I did not give it 5 stars.
