"Interesting Idea But Not Interesting"
Bezmozgis, no. Rudnicki, of course! I listen to him all the time.
Nonfiction.
Not his best.
It is based on a very interesting and unique topic.
This book has too many characters, none of whom I cared about. After half an hour I realized I did not know who any of these people were. After a few hours I was still waiting for something to happen. The book would have benefited from having just a few clear main characters. Instead, it was about several people and provided lengthy background stories for just about everyone else.
"Great Info - Dull Presentation"
I generally love this sort of book. Unfortunately it comes off like a CPA reading a budget report. The narrator is OK, but not the best choice. A reader with a greater tonal range and more active style would have helped. I got through the whole thing, but only be taking several breaks to listen to other books.
"For children only"
I'm sure this book is wonderful but I could not get past the first page. (The introduction is excellent and interesting). I felt that the following statement in the publisher's summary was misleading, "...for the curious of all ages, but especially children." The tone of the author and narrator are so patronizing that "Little History" would not be tolerated by many children that I know above age five, let alone adults.
