This was a really good legal thriller, characters were developed really well, great plot. I haven't read many of the previous books but I think I will, it looks like this one is number 16 already!

I'm surprised there are so many good reviews of this book. It had WAY too much detail. I'm not sure why so much detail was needed, I finally had to stop listening to it, it took way too long to get to the actual story.

The narrator did a good job. However, in a word, this book was ridiculous. I had to stop listening after about 2 hours. The plot was ridiculous, the characters were ridiculous. I could go into a lot of detail with examples of its ridiculousness but I've already wasted 2 hours on this book and I don't want to waste anymore. I never miss an Alex Cross novel and am a big fan of those....surely the guy who wrote this must be a different James Patterson.

This was a good mystery, although many of the characters were a little extreme. Hard to explain what I mean by that, but everyone seemed to be an extreme version of what type of person they were supposed to be, if that makes sense. Also, I have to wonder about the author - what kind of person can dream up the horrific thing this serial killer did to his victims??? I found that quite disturbing. The other con was the ending wasn't entirely satisfying to me. However, all in all it was an interesting mystery story.

I thought it was a really good book in the first half. Unfortunately as soon as the two main characters got together about halfway through, it became quite boring. Too much time spent on long drawn-out sex scenes and boring dialog that really didn't contribute to the several interesting plot lines the author had begun in the beginning of the book. I'll listen through to see how it ends -- I'm getting through it by fast forwarding when it gets too boring, and putting my Ipod on 2x speed so it goes faster when I still want to hear what's going on but the dialog gets too slow. There have still been good parts that pop in here and there in the last half.

This book really kept me interested wondering what was going to happen next. My only complaint is that the first half of it was so depressing because of all of the terrible things the main character went through - it seemed like there was not a break in the tension of bad things happening to her for a very long time. The ending was also a little far-fetched. But it was definitely an interesting book, and a page-turner.

I should have been smart enough to realize that a book where the main character is in a coma through the whole thing would be boring...unfortunately I thought I'd give it a try. Another book that makes me wish we could get our money back. It was so boring. I did want to find out how it ended but it was so boring to get to....it dragged on and on and on....similar to being in a coma. First I set my Ipod on 2x speed so I'd get through it faster. Then I started fast forwarding and then listening, fast forwarding and then listening. Soon I was skipping ahead without even fast forwarding. I would have just ditched it but I wanted to know how it ended. I think I got this one on a sale, I've got to stop doing that.

I have loved all of the past Kinsey Milhone mysteries, but I don't know what the deal is with this one. I've listened to it for well over an hour and I feel like the actual plot hasn't even started yet, but I'm on the fifth storyline already. And the storylines are dragged out and filled with boring, unnecessary details, and are seemingly unrelated. I suppose the whole point of the book is eventually she will bring them all together, but I don't have the time to listen to this any longer and be bored and hope it starts getting good so I'm giving up on it. This is one I wish I could get my money back on.

First let me say I knew this was a Christian book and I don't mind that, that is not why I rated this low. I thought the details about what happened on September 11 were the very best part of the book, but unfortunately it was a brief part. (spoiler alert) I thought the portrayal of the one marriage where the husband was so perfect and they were still so in love and perfect after 10 years of marriage was unrealistic and annoying. I have read other Kingsbury books though, and have been annoyed at the unrealistic portrayal of married love in those as well so I guess I should have expected that. The other marriage they seemed to build up how horrible it was yet when the husband was presumed dead the wife grieved so extremely and I thought after they built up how awful he was, she'd be relieved he was dead. I also thought there were unrealistic situations. Finally, I thought it really dragged on in the last half of the book.

I guess I will join the ranks of those who thought this book was boring. There was a plot but it moved way too slow - It spent way too much time going on and on about the thoughts and feelings of the main character having an affair with a younger woman. I tried for the first hour and a half and finally stopped listening to it and didn't even finish it, it was so boring. I have said this before but I wish Audible had a return policy if you think a book is a real dud! Maybe it picks up later on in the book but I don't have the time to waste to find out.

I had never heard of this book and bought it on a sale because it looked interesting. It is fascinating, written in 1959 about people in a small town trying to live their lives after most of the country is destroyed in a nuclear war. Fascinating from a historical perspective, and also a very interesting story line! I wish there was a sequel!
