Present moment awareness is an essential ingredient in life if one expects to experience any degree of authentic peace and contentment. It has been acknowledged for centuries as the cornerstone of spiritual awakening in all traditions of Eastern thought. In the West, however, it is still a relatively unrecognized concept for living. The Western mind is always restless, never content with the moment.

On a frigid New Year’s Eve in Minneapolis, a young woman’s brutalized body falls from the trunk of a car into the path of oncoming traffic. Questions as to whether she was alive or dead when she hit the icy pavement result in her macabre nickname, Zombie Doe. Unidentified and unidentifiable, she is the ninth nameless female victim of the year, and homicide detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska are charged with the task of not only finding out who Zombie Doe is but who in her life hated her enough to destroy her. Was it personal? Or could it just have been a crime of opportunity?

Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. "Jess and Jason," she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost. And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good? Compulsively readable, The Girl on the Train is an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.

No false promises, no shortcuts just some doable solutions to helping you get to your goal.

Would you be willing to try another one of L. J. Ganser’s performances?

Definitely not, mispronounces words and is obtrusively expressive. Annoyed me immensely.

  • The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing

Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

    Any additional comments?

I have been a "tidier" ever since I can remember and I can very much relate to Marie's somewhat quirky love for a tidy environment. At first I thought that she was a little cuckoo about some recommendations but I am now a convert.

Her method of organising is known as the KonMari method, and consists of gathering together everything you own and then keeping only those things which "spark joy", and choosing a place for everything from then on. It works.

I followed her method and our bedroom has stayed immaculately tidy for two weeks now, much to my surprise, our room was always relatively tidy but not immaculate at all for more than an hour.

Marie is right when she states that tidying is contagious. On seeing our tidy bedroom my pro-hoarding husband decided he wanted to de-clutter his shed and the next day we threw out 200kgs of unwanted stuff! Then my children wanted to do their rooms! Even my co-worker did his desk after seeing me do mine!

My only criticism of this book is that Marie is quite young and the book seems to come from a single persons point of view. If you have a large family and/or home you can still adapt her methods as I did. I scaled it down to doing a room at a time but always adhering to organising by category, not room.

The book is beautifully narrated by Emily Woo Zeller, she has such a soothing, calm but expressive voice. I would listen to any book that she narrates.

I highly recommended this book if you want a tidy (organised) home without having to tidy again and again or having to go out and buy expensive and useless storage products. I am yet to "tidy" my kitchen, with a family of five teenagers, I think that will be the real challenge.

Now only if someone could make your home easier to keep CLEAN!

A first-person account of Jim Tucker's experiences with a number of extraordinary children with memories of past lives, Return to Life focuses mostly on American cases, presenting each family's story and describing his investigation. His goal is to determine what happened-what the child has said, how the parents have reacted, whether the child's statements match the life of a particular deceased person, and whether the child could have learned such information through normal means.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book is not just your mystical, airy fairy book. Mr Tucker has done his research and produced some compelling evidence for Reincarnation.

What did you like best about this story?

The stories were incredible but in the last two chapters he provides his theory and some scientific exploration. This went a bit over my head but it was very interesting.

What does Patrick Lawlor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great Narrator. Just suits this book down to the ground.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Where does The Mood Cure rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    #1.
This book changed my life in only TWO DAYS! From then on it has just got better and better. I feel alive again. 5 long years of feeling lethargic, moody, out of control and constantly crying for no reason ! I could feel the real me inside but I felt like I just couldnt lift off what was ailing me? I was determined to find the cause and here it is, contained in this book.

If you are having problems with anxiety, anger, depression, stress or anything mood related don't just put it down to "oh thats just the way I am" or "its because of...." It could very well be just a chemical imbalance in your brain that can be fixed with supplements and some simple diet changes and Dr Ross helps you every step of the way. The supplements themselves are miraculous in restoring your moods making life happiness.

So get busy and READ THIS BOOK !

What did you like best about this story?

It is very reader friendly. She starts out with a quiz to help you find out what category you fit into, if not all of them !!!! Then provides detailed explanation on why you feel like you do and what you can do to improve your situation by suggesting supplements and simple dietary changes.

What does Coleen Marlo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Coleen read the book beautifully but it seemed her voice was a bit robotic, like it had been run through a voice synthisiser.

    Any additional comments?

I hope this book helps you the way it has helped me and thousands of other people. Thankyou Dr Ross.

What did you love best about Simple Strides Toward Positive Change?

The messages are strong yet simple. You are perfectly imperfect. You are worthy, you are beautiful just the way you are right now. I have heard or read all this before but no one has quite ever got this through to me as much as Susan. This little book has helped me improve my self esteem, confidence and to stop beating myself up mentally. Susan has helped me become alot more accepting of myself. Highly recommended for everyone and teens would especially benefit from reading this.

What other book might you compare Simple Strides Toward Positive Change to and why?

None - it surpasses them all

Which character – as performed by Susan Korwin – was your favorite?

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many aha moments for me here. I felt like she was talking to me personally in a lot of areas.

Would you try another book from Liane Moriarty and/or Caroline Lee?

Yes as this was the second of her books I have tried and I just cant finish them.

What was most disappointing about Liane Moriarty’s story?

I think it is that I do not like her style of writing, she bores me.

How could the performance have been better?

The author spends too much time establishing the characters.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The narration was good and Liane has a good following.
