It is Christmas, 1898, and Prescott House on Beacon Hill is ready to receive the visitors from England, which includes their son Andrew and his wife Jessica, Lord and Lady Burden, and their son, Trevor. Aurora Prescott leaves for New York, recovering from a recent tragedy, and Robert has a final confrontation with Miss Logan. Charles Prescott is now the President of a new Railroad company - however he soon discovers that while his financial empire is building at an extraordinary rate, his family is falling apart.

Beacon Hill 4 was my Christmas treat saved for the long car rides over the rivers and through woods to relatives' homes. Darker and intricate plot twists made the travel enjoyable. Hope this isn't the end! I want to know what happens to Aurora, Brandon and Marietta plus Williams, Logan and Lucille.

It's difficult to write a short review on a smart phone screen. But if i convince just one more person to read this story, the effort will be worth it.

Toni Murphy was eighteen when she and her boyfriend, Ryan, were wrongly convicted of the murder of her younger sister. Now she is thirty-four and back in her hometown, working every day to forge and adjust to a new life on the outside. She's doing everything in her power to avoid violating her parole and going back to prison. But nothing is making that easy – not Ryan, who is convinced he can figure out the truth; not her mother, who clearly doubts Toni's innocence; and certainly not the group of women who made Toni's life miserable in high school.

I'm one of those readers who often grows impatient with mysteries, often flippin to the back to get to the whodunit chapters. But not with this one! Thank you Chevy Stevens for opening doors into dark places and stories I might have avoided otherwise. I finished this book wanting to know more, see more, and hear more from you.

I've been hooked on this series for several years and the latest installment has set the hook even deeper! Good fiction makes me care about the characters and good acting makes them come alive in my imagination. Powder River delivers on both counts. Gentle humor wraps the advent of technology in the late 19th century, while true emotion captures the challenges of living in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming after the Indian wars and before the range wars. Highly recommend to anyone over age 10.

A house filled with shadows and secrets. The epic drama of the Prescott Family continues. Series three finds Marietta Prescott living in Philadelphia as Burt Colton continues to appear on stage, but is putting off the wedding. With no money and an aggressive landlord, things begin to look very bad for her as she finds herself doubting Burt's sincerity. Back in Boston, Gilbert Hull begins a campaign to have the "Wayward Home" moved from Beacon Hill, causing Jocelyn and Augusta Prescott to join forces and draw the battle line.

Would you listen to Beacon Hill again? Why?

This series just keeps getting better and better! Who knew Boston high society at the end of the 19th century was so intriguing? Solid characters without being simplistic caricatures carry the story forward with both believable drama and plot twists. Looking forward to the next installment!
