"not good"
This was a very disturbing book. It is very violent and upsetting in parts. In one instance, a rape is discribed in every disgusting detail. I find that most books that Oprah likes are too sad and violent for me. I have finished every one
of the books I have downloaded, except for this one. I really wish I could get my money back.
"Bill Bryson is great"
Funny and informative. I learned so much. I always enjoy Bill Bryson's books and I always laugh out loud. What could be better than to learn and laugh at the same time.
"Great story-very basic outline of her life"
I guess this book was meant for young readers. It was very interesting to read about her life; I'm glad I know more about this fascinating woman and the subject of sufferage. But I would like a more adult, indepth study of her. Haven't found it yet.
"fascinating"
A wonderful, fun-to-read overview of women in American history. One of the best books I've listened to and I've listened to a lot. It helped me to choose other women's lives I'd like to read more about. The sad thing is there often aren't the books (at least on audible) which will give me an indepth look at Katie Stanton, Alice Paul or Eleanor Roosevelt--only children's books for these women's lives. I don't know if the books aren't out there or if I just can't find them here. But I digress, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and enjoyed the reader's voice very much.
"So interesting, wow what a way to retire"
I can't think of a more fun way to spend your "empty-nester" years. This couple's passions leads them to create such a great life in Italy. Enjoyed it very much!
"One of my favorites"
The life that Audrey led as a child is unbelievable.
Her life during the WWII, taught me so much about what people endured with the German invasions. And then the rest of Audrey's story of overcoming her early years is incredible.
"great little short story!"
Only 1/2 hr, but such a clever, and likeable little story. It made me smile. P.G. Wodehouse is very witty.
"asian culture fascinating, but no one is happy"
I loved reading about the life the Chinese women had lived back in "the old country," and I understand how hard life was back then...but even the modernized Americanized children were miserable.
It became a bit funny and ridiculous.
"entertaining"
I loved this book. I learned so much about ancient history. And who knew that Reid and Pollard could make it so interesting. I was hooked from the moment it started and I was pleasantly suprised that it was such a intriguing and effortless read. But then, all history should be like that.
