This book is full of great tips and insights. I didn't give the book a 5 star rating because I felt the reading could have been a little more animated. However, I have to stress that this is just a minor quibble. Once I got into it, I forgot about that and focused on the excellent and insightful content. I have already recommended this book to a few of my friends. This is definitely one that should not be passed by.
Great book and well read. No fluff or padding as it was straight down to business with getting his points across. I really liked the author's lively reading style too.
The Message is a decent alternative version of the bible in modern day english. However, a word of caution - don't base any of your theology on this as it is a very general and loose translation.
If you would like to have this Emerson classic as an audiobook, please please do NOT buy this version. The narration is absolutely awful. The narrator, while having good clear diction, reads the book as if there is a comma every third or fourth word. This becomes extremely tedious within a very short time. In fact, I would say it creates a barrier to understanding the content of the book, which was not written in modern english.
A good narration should be transparent and not get in the way of a book. However, in this case, the narrator's pauses every third or fourth word made comprehension of the content a struggle. It sounds like a computer is reading it. If I could have given this narration zero stars, I would have.
The only good thing I can say about this version is that is was really cheap and I didn't waste too much money on it. I will look for another version. The one enjoyment I got out of it was knowing I had the power to press the stop button on my player.
This is an excellent book on removing clutter from your life. His explanation as to the reasons people feel comfortable with clutter is really an eye opener. My only criticism and the reason I did not give this book 5 stars is simply that at 7 hours length in audio format, it is just too long. An abridged version under 3 hours would have been much more appropriate for the average listener. I say this because I feel some chapters are not really relevant to most people. Apart from that it is an excellent insightful book.
This book is contains 60 chronologically ordered ideas for overcoming procrastination. Some of these ideas are quite good and each idea will not suit each person. This book is not so much a motivational book but rather a book suggesting various strategies to overcome inertia and lack of action. This is not a quick fix book as all the ideas contained within will require action on the readers/listeners part.
