In Ben Coes' latest, Eye for an Eye, Dewey Andreas faces the toughest odds of his life as one of China's most powerful men has decided to do whatever he must to take down Dewey - and inflicts a horrifying loss. Andreas - former Army Ranger and Delta - is a man of great skills and cunning. His opponent, Fao Bhang, is ruthless, determined, and with no limit to the assets at his disposal. In this conflict, there are only two possible outcomes. And only one Dewey Andreas.

What made the experience of listening to Eye for an Eye the most enjoyable?

I have been working my way through a lot of thriller authors and Ben Coes is hands down my favorite. The characters are brought to life and each of them seems plausible and realistic. His stories never lag but are always moving. I like the way he jumps from scene to scene and yet the cohesiveness of the story is always maintained. Ben…hurry and write some more!!!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dewey Andreas is my favorite hero. He struggles with his emotions, he is tough but approachable, committed to friendship, loyal, patriotic, bad ass but funny, tough as nails but tender when needed. He is the most well rounded action hero thus far in my listening library ( and it is a big one)

What about Peter Hermann’s performance did you like?

I am an audible book addict and especially with mysteries and thrillers. Peter Hermann is the BEST narrator that I have ever heard. I love the way he uses different accents, inflections, pauses and characteristics to differentiate each character. I hope to hear more of him in the future!!!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

One of my complaints with the heroes in these tough guy action stories is that they are so unemotional and dysfunctional that they will never have a long term committed relationship with a woman. In this story the readers get to see the grief and agony that Dewey experiences and that makes the hero much more realistic. It just makes me root for him all the more.

    Any additional comments?

I can't wait till the next one and I hope Ben Coes uses the same narrator because he is PERFECT.

If you could sum up By the Light of the Moon in three words, what would they be?

I have listened to several stories by this author, and I always find them different and interesting. However, I find myself wishing he would cut out the excessive strings of descriptive language. As a listener in the story you are seldom JUST driving down a road but you also hear about the feel of the road, the detailed descriptions of what is outside your window and the sound of the tires as they crunch and pulverize the minuscule particles of tiny rocks beneath the ........ I found myself yelling out loud in the car a couple of times as I was listening " just get on with the story already!"Other than that, I enjoy his books. I wish he would just take out all the extraneous descriptions and his books would rate 5 stars.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

I must admit, I have almost a hundred downloads with Audible. I usually go with the mystery and crime dramas but the reviews caught my eye with this series. I am sooo hooked. I had to laugh out loud as I read one review that said they felt like throwing up when they saw that this was being offered on unabridged through the whole series. I LOve this series and the narration is soo fantastic. I have to admit that I fall asleep at night with my ear buds in place as I try to catch just the last bit of the story before going to sleep. My husband just chuckles at me and shakes his head.
Give this series a try and you won't be disappointed!!!!!

Her career in homicide has taken her into the darkest depths of New York City’s underground - and sometimes Lieutenant Eve Dallas feels more comfortable in those kinds of places than in the high-rise, high-society world of her billionaire husband, Roarke. But while she’s no party girl, she’s managing to have a reasonably good time at the celebrity-packed bash celebrating the debut of The Icove Agenda. This time it’s Eve, not Roarke, who’s a guest of honor, since the film is based on one of her famous cases. Her partner, Peabody, is practically giddy....

Working as a lifeguard at a Florida resort, Ned Kelly meets a woman he is wild about, the woman of his dreams. It feels perfect in every way, except that she is used to caviar and Manolo Blahniks, and he is used to burgers and flip-flops. She is a guest at the luxurious hotel, he lives above a garage.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I have read a lot of James Patterson and this one would be toward the bottom of my list of recommendations.

Did Billy Campbell do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I thought the narration was good.

Do you think Lifeguard needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I read murder mysteries because I enjoy the twisting plots and suspenseful story lines. If the characters are intriguing and enjoyable I like to hear more about the them, such as in the Michael Bennett series, however, with this one I wouldn't bother.

    Any additional comments?

It was an OK read but I have come to expect more form Patterson
