Rod Stewart was born the working class son of a Scottish plumber in north London. Despite some early close shaves with a number of diverse career paths ranging from gravedigging to professional soccer, it was music that truly captured his heart - and he never looked back. Rod’s is an incredible life, and here - thrillingly and for the first time - he tells the entire thing, leaving no knickers under the bed. A rollicking rock ’n’ roll adventure that is at times deeply moving, this is the remarkable journey of a guy with one hell of a voice - and one hell of a head of hair.

Would you consider the audio edition of Rod to be better than the print version?

The audio edition is a MUST. The narrator was perfect - he definitely captured Rod's personality and at times...I really thought it was Rod telling the story himself.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rod?

Discovering where his songs came from....those moments of his life that were put into music.

What about Simon Vance’s performance did you like?

It certainly was NOT a boring narration as some audible books tend to be. His accent, play on words, and his incredible timing made you feel like you were sitting across from him while he was telling the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Mod Rod

This is an AUDIBLE MUST! I recently downloaded another biography of a famous rock and roller, but within a day or two I returned it. It was so dreadfully boring and horribly narrated.

In the chaos of 14th-century England and France, wine is the nectar of angels - a valuable commodity buttressing kingdoms and vaulting vast fortunes. A mysterious old archer named David Arrowsmith recounts his tale to an eager French chronicler, Jean Créton, when the latter learns that his mission to Scotland seems a failure. The burden of Arrowsmith's story rests with Créton, who suddenly finds himself writing about a seemingly cursed infant that barely escapes the grip of the Black Death in rural Wales when his family dies.

Anyone who can listen to this narrator must be in a true coma! I cringe when I hear the voice because it reminds me of when you're put in a corner and told all the things you've done wrong. The story may have been okay..... I just couldn't listen very long to a monotone voice that sounded truly creepy.

I am really let down with the performance in the narration on this one. I felt like I was listening to someone recite a dirge at a funeral. One day I might try to trudge through it but it's very doubtful. Don't they screen these people????

Wow... Yes wow! I admit I had to go back and read snippets of Allegreto's character in the first book because I found he was so ill mannered, petuous and unbearable at times. I had trouble accepting him as the main character in this book until I came to know HIM in a different way- so many different ways. This is a totally different style of romance from Kinsale and YES with a bit of dominatrix......AHEM! Nicely done Laura :)

All he ever did in life was watch people, never partake in their happiness or pain. No family, no ties, no entanglements, no friends, nothing infinitely precious. But where John’s life was drearily detached, Jean’s was over-encumbered by the ties John lacked - a warring family, an ailing business, a sordid past. When they came face to face, Jean could not resist the opportunity to escape the trials of his messy existence. John, driven into the deception, faces the horror of his altar-ego’s careless cruelty as he is drawn helplessly into a web of lies - and of love.

I love her books. They're so intensely deep and thought-provoking. Narration was perfect. Not long after I listened to this on audio the movie aired on TV! What a pleasant but disappointing surprise because the movie didn't follow the books ending. Still..... Very enjoyable and engrossing read! No spoilers .... Just sit back and prepare to be fully entertained and captivated.

Young interior designer Ava O'Shea has no idea what awaits her at the Manor. A run-of-the-mill consultation with a stodgy country gent seems likely, but what Ava finds instead is Jesse Ward - a devastatingly handsome, utterly confident, pleasure-seeking playboy who knows no boundaries. Ava doesn't want to be attracted to this man, and yet she can't control the overwhelming desire that he stirs in her. She knows that her heart will never survive him and her instinct is telling her to run, but Jesse is not willing to let her go. He wants her and is determined to have her.

A cheesy wanna-be to Fifty Shades possibly, but nowhere close in my opinion. If all you want is sex with no substance of story then dive right in. I could only go as far as three or four chapters. Narration was good .

I was so excited to download this series and kept it in my wish list until it was released. Although this was to be my first John Jakes experience I was convinced it was worth the wait, especially after reading reviews from his other series and then even after listening to the trial narration. Perhaps a better narrator would've helped but even putting that aside, the story just didn't grab me. I gave it several chapters and became so bored I couldn't go on. Too simplistic. I realize in a long series it takes time to set up the history of characters and events, but it should also grab and hold your attention while doing so. It will be interesting to wait and read other reviews. Meanwhile...... On to something else!

Loved the concept of the story.... Nerdy guy, edgy retro-ish girl... Both with emotional issues blah blah blah. It really was a cute story and kept me entertained. The narration? If the story had not been so fresh and quirky, I would've returned it right away. His voice alone was okay but he rarely paused between characters. Many times he didn't even try to differentiate between characters and just kept on reading. If you are looking for a fast paced 'feel good at the end book' then try it. I can honestly say I felt it was worth a credit

Exceptional narration! Author really delves into the mind and thoughts of the main character, which becomes the guts of the story! Without this, which I found incredibly raw and honest, a reader would not like it's abrupt ending. This was my first book by this author and I was stunned, awed, and completely pulled into her web. As for the ending.....I guess it DID leave me wondering..... But that's why we have imaginations!
