This is the 2nd book in Sullivan's series. They are best read in order. The story is adventurous and fun. Just a warning, it is a bit gruesome in parts.
How refreshing to read an inspirational book that kept my interest. Mr. Martin discusses the issue of the role of fathers while weaving a web of mystery. Well done.
This series has all the makings of good "murder mysteries". Johnson is a much better writer than the A&E screenwriters who have tried to adapt it for TV. Johnson provides humor and characterization that make the series far more enjoyable than the dark television characters. Guidall as always portrays each character in a way that truly does them "justice".
Alan Cumming is an amazing actor/narrator. He did an excellent job, reminding me of just how chilling Macbeth can be.
Neville Jason keeps the story entertaining even when the end of the series becomes tedious. I would rate books 1&2 with 5 and 4 stars respectively, but books 3-5 become tedious and even boring. I plan to read book 1 "The Sword in the Stone" to my 6th grade class. Mr.Jason has been an excellent example of how to do it.
