Would you listen to What Alice Forgot again? Why?

This book is fabulous, and the narration is wonderful. Maybe it's just because I love an Australian accent, but seriously...the book makes you think about life - your life - and what you're doing with each special moment of it. It's also just a great story and written in a clever way. Literary page-turner! Enjoy!

Ayla, one of the most remarkable and beloved heroines in contemporary fiction, continues to explore the world and the people around her with curiosity, insight, and, above all, courage. As the story opens, Ayla, Jondalar, and their infant daughter, Jonayla, are living with the Zelandonii in the Ninth Cave - a shelter of stone. Ayla has been chosen as an acolyte and has embarked on the arduous task of training to become a spiritual leader.

I loved the Clan of the Cave Bear series, and this book is good, just not great. I felt like there was a lot of repetition and more details about life in this time/era than actual story and drama until the very end. Could have used more plot.
Narrator did a good job with the voices.

Why we think it’s a great listen: A performance so poignant, we gave Bronson Pinchot (yes, Balki from Perfect Strangers) our inaugural Narrator of the Year award.... In the monsoon season of 1968-69 at a fire support base called Matterhorn, located in the remote mountains of Vietnam, a young and ambitious Marine lieutenant wants to command a company to further his civilian political ambitions. But two people stand in his way.

    Zachary says: "Matterhorn"
    "Great listen"
    Overall

Narration was great. Story phenomenal. It's not just a war story, it's a story about relationships in crisis, race relations in a military setting, and perserverence under the most difficult of situations.

Larry Ott and Silas “32” Jones were unlikely boyhood friends. Larry was the child of lower middle-class white parents, Silas the son of a poor, single, black mother - their worlds as different as night and day. Yet a special bond developed between them in Chabot, Mississippi. But within a few years, tragedy struck. In high school, a girl who lived up the road from Larry had gone to the drive-in movie with him and nobody had seen her again.

Ann says: "Excellent story, terrific narrator."
    "Great Southern Story"
    Overall

A fantastic taste of the south. Excellent story and rich themes. The narrator does an excellent job of capturing the slow drawl and various accents of rural Mississippi. Great listen!
