"nice listen"
I have enjoyed listening to people personal stories as to why they run. It isn't very long, but maybe that is for the best. It could inspire a runner who is listening to it while running to keep moving. What I liked about it is that it involves regular people, like us.
"The secret of true health"
I loved every second of this book. I am a teacher, I gave it to the phys. ed. teacher. If people actually applied this to their lives it would kill the pharmaceutical industry.
"A must for everyone!"
John Robbins bares his life to us in this book and shares his life experiences, lessons, triumphs and tragedies while he shares wisdom on how to live a truly good life in our modern times. He is humble and shares so much of himself which makes you feel like you know him. I am loving every moment of this audiobook. The sign of the times... gas prices, bankruptcy, foreclosures. We need to take time to be intelligent with our money, and evaluate whether our lives are really fulfilled. I recommend this book to the world, especially those who will embrace their lives being closer connected to the earth, and who want a real intimacy with family, nature and want to give more instead of take.
"ok..."
As a former rock music history fanatic (read many, many rock biographies in college) I was kinda excited to listen to this, but the monotone narrative did not keep my interest at all. I almost would have rather physically read the book than listened to this. No offense to Sean Penn, but maybe he should not do narratives anymore....
"Loved it at first..."
I gave it a good rating because it gives Dean's full story from the humble beginnings of his life running, why he stopped, and what made him pick it up again. It made him "human", which contradicted the feedback of others and how inflated he became. I don't want to say he became "inflated" per se, but the challenges he took on as he took on after the Western States 100 (that part I loved to listen to by the way!) those unheard of challenges made a listener feel out of touch as the book went on. I did not finish it.
