"excellant narrator"
Ms Higgs has one of the best narrators voices I have heard yet and I listen to many audio books. She has done a fine job in both the writing and the narration. Thank you Liz
"thank you Liz"
This was a beautiful depiction of the story of Ruth from the bible. I loved this story and the narration was wonderful.
"loved it"
I loved this story. It was everything I hope for in an audiobook. This is only my 2nd Terri Blackstock book and I look forward to listening to more of them. The readers voice was very pleasant but the only complaint is that her reading was not the best. It was a bit choppy--not smooth.
"beautiful story"
I love Karen Kingsbury and have listened to many of her books. This one was one of my favorites so far.
"liked it a lot"
I wish I would have listened to it with my husband because he would have really liked it too. Kept my interest all the way through---was a bit predictable but I really liked it.
"pretty good"
Not the best book I have ever read but worth the read--or listening time. It was a good listen on a road trip and made the time go fast. I would recommend it to others
"not finished"
The story line was good and interesting and we enjoyed listening to it but the end was weird --like the author just got tired of writing and ended it before anything was resolved. So it left us very unsatisfied. For me if the end is bad the book is not worth my time so I would not recommend it.
"amazing story"
It was a amazing and captivating story of unconditional love. I could not stop listening.
"devastating"
Francine Rivers is an amazing writer and the story had me captivated until the end. I realize she was trying to depict reality back then but it was to harsh for us who live in the 21st century. It was gruesome is several spots. Yes I admit that I live a very sheltered life in a safe place so it is good for me to see what these Jews and Christians endured in the early years of the church but I did not need it to be a graphic as it was here.
I spent more then 20 hours listening to this book and hearing the little slave girl go through countless trials. I got so caught up in the characters and they became real to me--always the sign of a good writer---BUT
((DON"T READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU WANT TO BE SURPRISED BY THE ENDING) As a Christian I have found in life that God uses all things for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Even in times when evil seems to reign God uses it for good. However I felt that the author did not balance the good with the evil. Then the evil won in the end--on almost all fronts. There was some good that resulted but precious little compared to the sacrifice that was made. It would have been much easier to take the sacrifice of a beautiful young woman had it resulted in the salvation of those she had prayed so vehemently for.
I also thought that she did not really give a clear understanding of what Christ did. It was not explained well. So I would definitely NOT recommend this book.
