I love murder mysteries, especially when they are true. This one misses the boat. It is slow moving, boring, bogged down in unnecessary detail and read in a monotone. Perhaps if the story interests you speed reading the book might be a good idea, you could pass over the dull parts!
This audio had an excellent narrator and that made it possible to keep listening. I am not one that is good at guessing plots but this book was so predictable that it was ridiculous. I feel like this author is one step above Danielle Steele. If you want an easy listening experience that is really mindless you might enjoy this, but otherwise save your credits for something that is written better and has a bit more substance
While this might not be one of my favorite JoJo books, it was enjoyable. She does a good job of developing her characters. The plot wasnt exactly original but it was enjoyable. The narrator does a nice job and the book kept my interest.Recommend it if you are looking for an easy listen.
Ok, I really tried with this one. My husband likes Graham Greene so I was excited to listen to one of my favorite actors narrate this book. What a disappointment! Yes, Colin has a wonderful voice and did the best job he could with this ridiculous nonsense. I could no longer stand the torture of this story after 1/2 way through. There was really no point to the story- all the characters were unlikable and I was not at all sympathetic to their "heartache", all self- inflicted and narcissistic. Dont waste your credits!
Some of the free Christmas books Audible has offered have been interesting but this one was not one in my opinion. I guess I am too old for fables! It was torture to listen.
This book takes us back to the type Stephen King used to write. Its a fast paced thriller, not too far out or disgusting as some of his books have been. He is a master at character development, characters were all well crafted.I couldnt stop listening to this book and I think Will Patton did a great job reading it.I highly recommend- that if some of his books have been too far out for you- that you give this one a try. I think you will enjoy it!
This was pure garbage. A waste of time. Not well written, not original. There was really nothing I liked about it. I love mysteries but this one was not worth my time.
This book makes me happy that I didnt grow up in the age of the internet. High School was hard enough 40 yrs ago, this depiction of HS now was downright scary! Tana French has a talent for weaving a complicated story that doesnt get boring. The reader was excellent. I love those Irish accents! I still chose Faithful Place as my favorite of her books!
I read this book a year ago and it was suggested for my book club. I didnt want to read it again so I listened the second time around. I enjoyed the audio better than the hard copy. It's an interesting story about a topic I didn't think much about before - women on the prairie who had mental breakdowns. I found it to be a fascinating subject. It was a great bookclub choice and generated excellent discussion. I was looking forward to seeing the movie, but it never seemed to make it to the movie theatres. This story makes you very thankful for living in modern times!
Did not live up to my expectations. The first two books in the series were excellent but this one was boring. I found myself waiting for it to end by the end of the first 1/3. The narrator is excellent and the stories about the Communist Regime kept my interest. The author's personal political bias was quite evident in the stories about the USA, which saddened me. I was hoping that he would report the "history" in a more even handed way. Characters that didnt support his political views were all written as unsympathetic, obnoxious characters and the inverse was true. This made me wonder how heavily opinoned his first two books were. I guess with fiction you can always slant it the way you want. I also got really sick of hearing about the self destructive rock band. I think that it would have been better if he cut the trilogy to just a 2 book series and edited it a little better. Glad I didnt read it, I never would have finished it
As a Nurse I always tell my patients, get a second opinion or a third or a fourth and always have an advocate with you when you go to a hospital. This book kept my interest and I was thankful that Susannah had parents that were amazing advocates for her and kept getting those opinions till they found Dr. Najar who saved her life! What a scary experience she had. She is a very lucky woman!
