This is a very interesting story on an old classic. It kept me entertained the whole way through. But, I had a very hard time hearing the lower register voice of the narrator. Even with my noise canceling headphones I had to turn the volume up almost all the way to hear the mens voice but that in turn made the womens voice super loud!
I've read all of the Dark-Hunter novels and I've noticed over the past three years I am getting bored with the storyline, lost in the characters and often put the book down for a couple days instead of binge reading it like I do with many other books. Was it time well-spent...I guess since I view this book as a filler book but I won't reread it for a long while.
Yes, I believe she will publish another good book someday. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
Yes, I enjoy listening to Holter Graham. That being said, I wish he was consistent with the voices throughout all the novels. He has done enough of these books that he should be consistent. The only voice that is the same though out the novels is Simi's (and maybe the women's voices as he doesn't change any of them really)
If you are invested in the Dark-Hunter novels I would say yes...but if you have not ever read one before DON'T START WITH THIS ONE!
After falling in love with the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward I eagerly began to read The Fallen Angels series hoping it would grab me just like BDB. But that just isn't the case. I've read each book in the series and each time I it is like pulling teeth to get through them. Typically I binge read (listen) to books but not these. They tend to take at least a week for me to get through and when I finish I feel a sense of relief.
Needless to say, this series is a HUGE struggle for me to get through and Possession was no different. Yes, the story is interesting and has a unique twist...but there if just *something* missing for me.
If you love the BDB series as I do don't assume this series and book are the same. They just aren't the same.
Wow, if you have read the Dark-Hunter series you know about the horrible pre-God life of Acheron, but you don't really know about his brother Styxx. You only know what Ach thought or was told to think.
Remember, there are always three sides to every story, yours, theirs, and the truth somewhere in the middle. This is Styxx story which is full of sadness and cruelty.
Bring a kleenex as you listen because from beginning to end this is a tear jerker.
I've been a fan of Kresley Cole for many years. When I saw she wrote a YA novel I wasn't sure I wanted to read it because YA is not my thing. But I decided to give it a chance and I LOVED THE BOOK! The story is amazing, intriguing, and left me wanting more. You won't be disappointed if you spend your credit on this book ;)
I purchased this book and the first one together and after not being able to listen to the first one at all due to the narrator I didn't even attempt to listen to this one. Instead I purchased the books to read on my nook and it was much better.
I purchased the first and last book of this series on Audible before I had listened to the sample of the book. When I finally did try to listen to the book I couldn't get past the narration. Becca Battoe sounds like a little girl and it felt sick and wrong to listen to her talk about Gray touching her "down there".
I ended up purchasing these books to read on my nook and joyed it much more.
I listen to a LOT of audiobooks. My profession allows for me to work and listen to audiobooks at the same time. I need a book that is going to keep my attention and entertain me. Usually, I finish a 13 hour book in a day and a half...this one is only 13.5 hours and I am on my fifth day listening to it and I am only 1/2 of the way through. It is so terribly boring!
As for the narration, I actually really enjoy the way Phil Gigante narrates so that was the best part for me.
IMHO:Save your credits and borrow this book from the library.
I have listened to this book at least 4 times since I purchased it. I can just not get enough of Jaime and Clair. Plus, Davina Porter is one of the best Narrators I have listened to and I listen to a LOT of books.
The book is classic Diana Gabaldon style (love, adventure, tension, war, death), however, it seemed to me like the last 2 hours of the book were a whirlwind of activity and ended with a cliff hanger. Frustrating since it usually takes her 2-3 years to write a book.
However, I do recommend the book HIGHLY! Start with Outlander and work your way to Echo...you will LOVE IT!
The story line is...okay. Not as good as some of Gena Showalters other work but I can see where there is potential there. However, the narrator did such a horrible job with the male voices that I think it was hard for me to really get into the book.
Genvieve Bevier made the main male character sound like a cyborb with down's syndrome. No passion at all.
I will think twice before I purchase another book that she narrates.
