  • The Witness

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 18 mins)
    • By Nora Roberts
    • Narrated By Julia Whelan
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Daughter of a cold, controlling mother and an anonymous donor, studious, obedient Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking too much at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent to lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever. Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she works at home designing sophisticated security systems.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Witness to be better than the print version?

I do both, listening and reading. if my week is very busy, audio will be my choice, if not, sitting with a book is also nice.

What did you like best about this story?

How different and so similar. The female character was a computer geek, with 100% positive confidence, social off balance, but so loving. Chief Brooks was just your typical Southern boy with lots of charm. Adding his mother, sisters and the town folks, just made this one of best Nora Roberts novel for me. I so love the length of the story, such a delicious books needed a great length, lol.

    Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene, was when Brooks told Abby he loved her and she freaked out. The reason for the breakdown, One one had ever told her they loved her. He promised to tell her for the rest of her life, everyday. She had her hand fisted tight over her heart, as if letting go, will take away the words. That was a tear moment for me.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The: I will tell you I love you everyday

    Any additional comments?

The funniest scene was when she kneed him in the you know what, added with am under cut to the throat. Laugh out, with tears

  • Hard Day's Knight

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 32 mins)
    • By Katie MacAlister
    • Narrated By Karen White

Men in tights never looked so good. At least that's Pepper Marsh's first impression when she attends a jousting competition at the Rennaissance Faire in Ontario. An unemployed and unattached software engineer, Pepper has had enough of the computer geeks in her dating pool. She yearns for a man of yore. A man not afraid to stare death in the face... and laugh at it. A man with a big lance....

    Marianne says: "Very Entertaining"
    "This is a miss!!!"
Would you try another book from Katie MacAlister and/or Karen White?

I read The Corset Diaries which was really good. I laughed a lot and figured I'd try something else. I was not happy with this choice. The book was slow. I was confused about the character. The fact that she is afraid of animals at one time and then is comfortable working on them threw me for a loop. I am not sure if I would try another book.

What could Katie MacAlister have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I didn't believe that the character with all her confidence was single. It seemed as if the story was about two different people. If we were told the character was bi-polar, it would have made much more sense to me.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

No comment about the narrator. I didn't think she impacted my bad experience. This was the only book downloaded to my Ipod. I will not make that mistake again. I was forced to listen to this story until reaching home. I was tempted to listen to the radio and did for a time. I did not even complete the 1st part. I can't get through it.

What character would you cut from Hard Day's Knight?

    The main character.

    Any additional comments?

I really thought this would be a great book. It wasn't. I am surprised at the comments because I did not enjoy this one at all.
