During his wanderings and work over the last 30 years as a Buddhist monk, Ajahn Brahm has gathered many poignant, funny and profound stories. While traditional Buddhist philosophy is at the heart of this collection, these thoughtful stories are written like playful parables, which are used to launch into a deeper exploration of subjects such as mindfulness, suffering, forgiveness, hope, wisdom, and unconditional love.

I>Shards of Honor is the novel in which Lois McMaster Bujold introduced the science-fiction world to Barrayar and Aral Vorkosigan, Beta Colony and Cordelia Naismith. From this beginning the author has created a multigenerational saga spanning time as well as space. Bujold is generally recognized as the current exemplar of the character-based science-fiction adventure story.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court is both a whimsical fantasy and a social satire chock-full of brilliant Twainisms. Hank Morgan, a nineteenth-century American---a Connecticut Yankee---by a stroke of fate is sent back into time to sixth-century England and ends up in Camelot and King Arthur's Court.

What disappointed you about A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court?

    It was painfully boring.

Would you ever listen to anything by Mark Twain again?

Yes, I loved Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He over did it a bit.

What character would you cut from A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court?

All of them. I would prefer it if the book didn't exist at all. Once I start a book, I have to finish it and this was more like a chore than something enjoyable.

    Any additional comments?

I am usually pretty easily entertained but this was almost an agony to finish it. I guess after his other books I just was expecting something excellent.

Nothing sucks the romance out of world travel like a boyfriend who may or may not have broken up with you in a hotel room in Brussels. Jane Jameson's sexy sire Gabriel has always been unpredictable, but the seductive, anonymous notes that await him at each stop of their international vacation, coupled with his evasive behavior over the past few months, finally push Jane onto the next flight home to Half Moon Hollow -- alone, upset, and unsure whether Gabriel just ended their relationship without actually telling her.

Would you listen to Nice Girls Don't Live Forever again? Why?

Yes, and I plan to as soon as I finish listening to every other book by this dynamic duo. I am so pleased to have found these books. I enjoy every minute.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jane is my favorite, probably because she is the main character but I love them all. I love the flawless way Amanda's voice changes when she switches characters.

Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?

Jane. Amanda is spectacular and I love the way she does Dick's voice too and she is so graceful when she shifts characters. I really don't have the vocabulary to praise these books or their narrator sufficiently.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I hate to turn it off and I hate even more to finish it.

    Any additional comments?

I never thought I would find a book I would enjoy as much as I enjoyed listening to Jim Dale read Harry Potter but I do enjoy listening to Molly's books just as much.

Once a devoted children's librarian, Jane Jameson now works at a rundown occult bookstore. Once a regular gal, she's now a vampire. And instead of a bride, she's an eternal bridesmaid -- which leads her to question where exactly her relationship with her irresistibly sexy sire, Gabriel, is headed. Mercurial, enigmatic, apparently commitment-phobic vampires are nothing if not hard to read.

Listening to books by Molly Harper has become my favorite thing to do. They make my 12 mile bicycle commute in the rain the most enjoyable part of my day.

Maybe it was the Shenanigans gift certificate that put her over the edge. When children's librarian and self-professed nice girl Jane Jameson is fired by her beastly boss and handed $25 in potato skins instead of a severance check, she goes on a bender that's sure to become Half Moon Hollow legend. On her way home, she's mistaken for a deer, shot, and left for dead.

Two thousand years ago, Mary Magdalene hid a set of scrolls in the French Pyrenees; the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, her version of the life of Jesus and the events of the New Testament. Protected by supernatural forces, these sacred scrolls could be uncovered only by a special seeker, one who fulfills the ancient prophecy of L'Attendu, the Expected One.

What did you like best about The Expected One? What did you like least?

I liked that there was some mention of Jesus. I was disturbed by the rest.

Has The Expected One turned you off from other books in this genre?

    Pretty much.

What does Linda Emond bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She was the best part. I will get other books narrated by her. She was fantastic. I was repelled by the story but loved listening to her.

Did The Expected One inspire you to do anything?

Yes, stop listening to fiction about the life of Christ.

    Any additional comments?

I guess I should have expected it to be way out there but since Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John's testimonies were a mirror of each other, I wanted it to be a female aspect of what they had said.

The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them all they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it - from garden seeds to Scripture - is calamitously transformed on African soil.
