Sideways is the story of two friends, Miles and Jack, going away together for the last time to steep themselves in everything that makes it good to be young and single: pinot, putting, and prowling bars. In the week before Jack plans to marry, the pair heads out from Los Angeles to the Santa Ynez wine country.

    C. D Strother says: "if you liked the movie, you will like the book"
    "Surprisingly good book"
    Overall

My expectations for this book were fairly low since wine isn't something I care for, but I wanted something different so I took a chance. The chance really paid off and I loved this book! There are many books out there that delve into friendships between women, but this is the first one that went into the emotions of male friendships and overall male emotions. As an added bonus, I learned some things about wine! Please note that the movie version of this book was awful and didn't capture the emotions of the book. It also left out and changed many significant parts of the book.

Elinor Mackey has always done the right things in the right order: college, law school, career, marriage. But now everything's going wrong. After two painful years of trying, Elinor has learned that she can't have children. All the doctors can tell her is that it's probably because of her age. As she turns 40, she withdraws into an interior world of heartbreak.

    "Good Listen"
    Overall

This was a good listen and I recommend it. The story moves along at just the right pace and I found myself surpised at the emotions that were described from the male point of view! As the story was narrated, I was able to immerse myself into the feelings of all the characters. My only complaint was that I wasn't thrilled with the ending; I felt it was too abrupt. I wanted to share in the emotions of Gina and Tony as the story ended, but it was left to my imagination!

With each and every new novel, Dean Koontz raises the stakes, and the pulse rate, higher than any other author. Now, in what may be his most suspenseful and heartfelt novel ever, he brings us the story of an ordinary man whose extraordinary commitment to his wife will take him on a harrowing journey of adventure, sacrifice, and redemption to the mystery of love itself, and to a showdown with the darkness that would destroy it forever.

    "Great Listen!"
    Overall

I thought both the book and the narrator were great! It kept my interest right from the beginning and the book took some very interesting twists and turns. I took some very long walks just so I could continue listening.

This was my first 'Archer' book and I found it very enjoyable. I love books that get my attention from the first page and this one didn't disappoint me at all.

The many characters in this book may be hard to keep track of at first, but you'll soon know each of them very well. I enjoyed the method in which the author takes you back into the lives of the major characters. The narrator did an excellent job and gave each of the many characters a distinct voice and of course I especially enjoyed the British accents. I didn't want this book to end and it will one that I will enjoy again in a few years.

This book was extremely boring, both in content and in narration and I couldn't wait for it to end. Don't waste your time or money on this one.
