Michael McIntyre has become Britain’s biggest comedy star. His debut stand-up DVD, Live & Laughing, was the fastest selling of all time, only to be eclipsed by his second, Hello Wembley, which sold over 1.4 million copies and was the 2009 Christmas number one. He hosts his own BAFTA nominated BBC1 series, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-up in 2009 following his record breaking 54-date Arena tour.

    Ann says: "Entertaining and engaging"
"So much better than reading the book"
    Overall

This is thus far, the best audio book that I have listened to. Full stop.

Having Michael tell you his story makes you feel like you're making a lifelong friend as you experience his journey with him. The sad parts are crushing, the funny parts, uproariously hilarious. During those, and everywhere in between, you get a genuine feel for the man behind the story and how the people and events of his life have shaped him.

The opportunity afforded to the writer in narrating his own story is gloriously exploited with countless off-script ad-libs which enhance the experience immeasurably.

A genuine, unpretentious, modest and thoroughly entertaining insight into a national treasure of Britain. Bravo!

Frank W. Abagnale was one of the most daring conmen, forgers, imposters, and escape artists in history. In his brief but notorious criminal career, Abagnale donned a pilot's uniform and copiloted a Pan Am jet, masqueraded as the supervising resident of a hospital, practiced law without a license, passed himself off as a college sociology professor, and cashed over $2.5 million in forged checks, all before he was 21. His story is now a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.

    Steve says: "Really entertaining!"
    "Perfect... except for the ending..."
    Overall

This is a fantastic, truth is stranger than fiction story which translates beautifully into audible format. My only gripe with it is that the producers of the audiobook chose to omit the epilogue which details some of the most important information of the story (i.e. what happens to Frank after his antics come to an in the USA). It leaves the audiobook feeling unfinished and is rather unsatisfying after taking the journey with Frank so far.

I'd still recommend it though - but perhaps watch the movie immediately afterwards to enjoy drawing the comparisons and to get filled in on the end of the tale...
