Loved this book - favorite audio story to date! Excellent story that crosses so easily from the present, to the past and into the world of Fortuna. The narration was fantastic and I enjoyed the ease by which the narrator could switch characters: male, female, sinister and brilliant. Love this story and highly recommend it!

From the Author of Simple Survival. On a trip to the Lake Clark area of the Alaskan bush, a sudden arctic weather system forces down the small plane of Dr. Jim Wade, and his son David. Both have survived the crash, but not unscathed. Food, fire and shelter are all a priority. Following the death of his father, it is up to David to figure out what to do next, and how to survive, on a remote Alaskan mountain - winter. This is a story of survival, resilience and of the spirit to live.

But only his father, who is absent from home, knows the way. This was an epic story. I never have known a lot about the history of Korea and the Korean War. This brought the conflict to light and I was stunned by the events millions endured. Tragic and yet a story of how a young man can endure loss I cannot imagine, and be true to the goodness in the person he is through it all. This was an amazing story, and it was well told by the narrator. Across the board 5 stars for this audio book.

An Austenprose "Readers' Choice" for Top 5 Books of 2012. In this thrilling and sensual adaptation of the classic love story Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet and the citizens of Hertfordshire know Fitzwilliam Darcy to be a proud, unpleasant sort of man, but they never suspect the dark secret of his true nature. He is not a man at all - but a vampire.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

It's July, 1975 and an overworked Chicago police force receives a call that an 85-year-old white man has been attacked by a gang of black youths on the lakefront in Burnham Park. Amid public outrage, contentious Mayor Richard J. Daley commands his police to find the killers fast and make the bucolic park safe again.Uncommonly but fortunately for the police, twelve-year-old James Overstreet steps forward and identifies five of the six assailants and arrests are made.

Of the audio books I've listened to this is my favorite. It was a story that pulls on every emotional thread. Having lived in that time, and knowing the racial biases and seeing the great divide of color and opportunity, of justice and injustice this brought those emotions to the surface and another time and place to now. Wonderful story and beautifully narrated. I recommend this highly.
