Councilman Golan Trevize is wondering if he was right to choose a collective mind as the best possible future for humanity over the anarchy of contentious individuals, nations and planets. To test his conclusion, he decides he must know the past and goes in search of legendary Earth, all references to which have been erased from galactic libraries. The societies encountered along the way become arguing points in a book-long colloquy about man's fate, conducted by Trevize and traveling companion Bliss, who is part of the first world/mind, Gaia.

Would you try another book from Isaac Asimov and/or Larry McKeever?

I love Isaac Asimov, but Larry McKeever is the worst narrator I have ever heard. Its like having a book read to you by the mac voice. That said, Isaac Asimov is one of my favorite authors.

How could the performance have been better?

When you read the line "'What are you doing here?' she said with surprise," there should be some surprise in your voice. Simple deliveries like that should be pretty basic for a narrator. I don't even know how he got a job reading books when the delivery is so awful.

Here in the great multidomed capital of the Galactic Empire, forty billion people have created a civilization of unimaginable technological and cultural complexity. Yet Cleon knows there are those who would see him fall - those whom he would destroy if only he could read the future.

Where does Prelude to Foundation rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of my favorites. So masterfully woven into the rest of the series.

Scott Brick is one of my very favorite narrators. Loved him in the ender series as well.

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
