Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

I am a huge Lisa Gardner fan but this story was fabulous--IMHO, her best so far. I literally could not stop listening, the twists and turns just kept coming, and the narration was perfect.

The year is 1896, and college professor Concordia Wells has her hands full: teaching classes, acting as live-in chaperone to a cottage of lively female students, and directing the student play, Macbeth. But mystery and murder are not confined to the stage, especially when the death of Concordia's sister, Mary, appears to be foul play. To make matters worse, the women's college is plagued by malicious pranks, arson, money troubles, and the apparent suicide of a college official.

Set at a women's college in 1896, I found this listen to be fun and quite interesting. Concordia Well, a young teacher, is a strong (for the times) and very likable character. The descriptions of the lifestyle, architecture, and clothing is just wonderful. The story depicts the plight of females during this period, several murders, and a little romance. I totally enjoyed the quotes from famous literature (especially MACBETH) sprinkled throughout the story. Narration by Becket Royce was superb! I understand there will be more books released in the series~I will definitely be listening. Highly recommended...

Christmas is a time for family... isn't it? Allie Richfield loves Christmas, so when she lands a job as House Manager for the amazing Ashford Estate - which includes organizing the Marley family festivities - she is in her element. With a budget bigger than her life savings and a team of staff, how hard can it be? As one-by-one she meets the Marleys, she’s about to find out... Allie’s new boss, Robert, might be gorgeous, but he’s also colder than the snow outside and refuses to come home for Christmas.

Such an engaging Christmas story~very well written and expertly narrated by Teri Schnaubelt. Loved all of the characters but Pippa was my favorite~she knew her strengths and weaknesses and was also quite aware of her family's problems. Robert and Kip could be irritating at times but Allie was quite able to handle both of them. I actually felt I was at the Ashford Estate with the Marley family because the descriptions of the players and surroundings were so well crafted. Many valuable lessons of love, loss, forgiveness, and the true meaning of family and Christmas shine through in this tale. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Riley Tanner has a best friend, the best friend a girl could ask for. He's supportive, loyal, honest, trustworthy, kind, and thoughtful. He's also the biggest player in school. Their relationship has always been easy and affectionate, but after Riley's month long vacation, things become a little strange. She starts to look at him in ways that go way beyond the 'friend zone'. Add in her best friend's rival, and things become a whole lot more complicated.

I really enjoyed Riley and Clay's story. They were both very young but their love was real~something many do not find in an entire lifetime. Although the book is categorized as YA (which I am not), anyone who had a first true love in high school will relate to the problems and emotions of this young couple. The parents of both, in my opinion, were too permissive but I liked them~particularly the mothers who stood strong for their children when necessary. The narration was great and the ending was just perfect....

Can too big to fail get away with murder? Read the compelling legal novel by the best-selling author of An Involuntary Spy. Brent Marks had paid his dues as a lawyer, having taken his share of divorces and drunk driving cases over his 20 year career, but had finally reached a place in his life where he could take on cases of social importance. What he least expected was for April Marsh's predatory lending case against the big banks for wrongful foreclosure on her parent's home to turn into a murder investigation.

Interesting and relevant legal tale about the devastating fallout faced by many Americans due to the greed of big banks. Detailed courtroom procedures which give the reader/listener insight into the workings of our legal system. Lack of development of the main characters (Brent, April, Angela etc.) was a problem for me. Predictable ending...

I could not stop listening to this compelling story. The main character, James, is obsessed with music until unfortunate happenings seemingly take his life, as he knows it, away. "Insanity feeds on justification"~James (handsome, talented, and wealthy) escapes to the Greek island of Corfu to live in solitude. Elizabeth and her young son, Cameron, are also temporarily residing on the same island. This is a beautifully told tale of obsession, love, redemption, and the after effects of loss and brutality that leave permanent scars. The narrator, Greg Tremblay, was magnificent. I enjoyed every minute of this audiobook from the first word to the last. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Perfectionist Natalie wants the 'wedding of the year'. Harassed mother, Milly, just wishes her bridesmaid's dress wasn't the size of a tent. This is one of the hardest reviews I have ever written. It is a story of love, loss, friendship, determination, depression, and so much more. "Life is not easy" and I doubt there is anyone who cannot relate, in some way, to the emotions and/or situations portrayed in this wonderful book. Do we choose happiness or do we let our mindset sabotage our choices? Beautifully written and exquisitely narrated. This work will stay with you long after the last word. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...

Taking its title from a poem that newlywed Daphne sent her soldier husband during World War II, When You Come Home tells of their young love in the heartland at the brink of war, and of the crushing uncertainty and fear as they find themselves a world apart. And when the poem comes back to Daphne - blood-stained by Raymond's mortal wounds - When You Come Home shares the extraordinary event that restored the grieving young widow's faith in the transcendent power of love.

Such a wonderful true story of love, faith, and loss during WW2. Daphne and Raymond fell in love and married but then he went to war. Their beautiful love story is so eloquently written by Daphne's daughter, Nancy. I could not stop listening~I also did not want the recording to end. THE GREATEST GENERATION is a well deserved title to those who fought in the war as well as their loved ones who supported them from home. The ration stamps, stars in the windows, and all of the sacrifices that were made by the country to support the American soldiers was so inspiring. The narration by Tiffany Williams was fabulous. Very highly recommended.
